Ping a host or IP from our server: 4 replies with min, average and max time
Checked from our server in India. Only the address you type is sent to us; nothing else leaves your device. Updated on 18 Oct 2026.A ping test sends small echo packets to a host and times each reply. This one sends 4 pings from our server in India, 1 second apart, and shows every round trip with the minimum, average and maximum in milliseconds, or times 4 TCP connections when a host blocks ping.
Type a host name or IP address, and pick ICMP ping or TCP connect.
Press Ping. Our server in India sends 4 probes, which takes about 5 seconds.
Read the times and the loss, then copy the result.
The Ping Test runs on our server, not in your browser: a web page cannot send ICMP packets, so the host you type is sent to our API and pinged from there. The server sends 4 ICMP echo requests, one second apart, and waits up to 2 seconds for each reply. You see every round trip in milliseconds, the minimum, average and maximum, the packet loss, and the TTL of the replies with a guess at how many hops away the host is.
Because the probes leave from our server in India, the times show the path from India to the host. A host in Mumbai usually answers in a few milliseconds; one in North America takes well over 200. Your own times will differ, depending on where you are and on your connection.
A host that does not answer ping is not necessarily down. Many servers, cloud firewalls and home routers drop ICMP on purpose. For those, switch to TCP connect: the server opens 4 connections to one port, 443 by default, and times how long each takes to be accepted. If our server ever cannot send ICMP, the page falls back to TCP by itself and says so.
Only public internet addresses can be pinged. Private networks, localhost, cloud metadata addresses and this site itself are refused, and the check is made to the exact address that was verified. Each visitor can run 10 network checks a minute and 60 an hour across all of these tools, and one host can be checked at most 20 times a minute by everyone together, so the tool cannot be used to flood anyone.
The page does not run continuous pings, test packet sizes, or ping from several countries at once.
Many servers, cloud firewalls and routers drop ICMP echo requests on purpose, while still serving web pages. A timeout then says nothing about whether the site is up. Switch to TCP connect on port 443: if those connections succeed, the server is reachable and only ping is filtered.
From our server in India. The times therefore show the network path from India to the host you typed, not from your own device. A nearby host answers in a few milliseconds, one in Europe in roughly 120 to 180, and one in North America in over 200.
Under 30 ms is excellent and usually means the host is in the same country or region as the sender. 30 to 100 ms is fine for browsing and most games. Above 150 ms, voice calls and fast games start to feel delayed. Steady packet loss matters more than a high average.
ICMP ping sends an echo request that the operating system answers directly. TCP ping opens a real connection to a port, such as 443 for websites, and measures how long the handshake takes. TCP works through most firewalls that drop ICMP and is usually a little slower.
Our server logs the host name you checked, the result and a hashed, daily-rotated version of your IP address, kept for 30 days to stop abuse. The full IP address is not stored, and no account or cookie is involved.
Private addresses, localhost and similar ranges belong to a local network. Pinged from our server they would reach our own machines, not yours, so they are refused. To test a device on your own network, run ping from a computer on that network instead.
