Add or remove GST, with the CGST, SGST or IGST split for every item
Estimates only, not financial advice. What you type stays on your device. Checked against sources on 5 Oct 2026.GST can be added to a price or taken out of one that already includes it, which are different sums and easy to confuse. Choose 5, 18 or 40 per cent, the slabs since 22 September 2025, or type any rate, and the CGST, SGST or IGST split is shown for every line. Estimates only.
Rates and rules read from the sources listed on this page (the earliest on 5 Oct 2026); they may have changed since.
Choose Add GST to a price under "What are you doing?".
Choose Within one state (CGST + SGST) or Between states (IGST).
Type the price before GST for each item and pick its GST rate; press Add item for more.
Read the Price including GST and the tax split, then press Copy breakdown or Share.
The GST calculator adds GST to a price or takes it out of a price that already includes it. For every item you get the taxable value, the GST, the total, and the split: CGST and SGST at half the rate each for a sale within one state or union territory, or IGST at the full rate for a sale to another state.
Shopkeepers use it to price an item and see the bill total; buyers use it to find how much of a ₹999 price is tax. Add lines to check a whole invoice: each item has its own rate, and the page totals the tax by rate.
The formulas, in plain text:
Each item is rounded to the paisa, so the parts always add up.
The rates in force. From 22 September 2025 the slabs for goods are 5% and 18%, with 40% for a short list of demerit goods, plus 3%, 1.5% and 0.25% for gold, silver and precious stones. The old 12% slab for goods is gone. From 1 February 2026 pan masala and tobacco moved from 28% to 40% and biris to 18%, so no goods are at 28% now. The rates are shortcuts, not a statement of the rate on your goods; confirm yours, and use Custom for any other rate, such as an older service rate. Cess, reverse charge and composition schemes are not covered. Everything runs in your browser. Estimates only, not financial advice.
Sources (checked 5 Oct 2026): CBIC Notification No. 9/2025-Central Tax (Rate), in force 22 September 2025, and No. 19/2025-Central Tax (Rate), in force 1 February 2026; the PIB release on the 56th GST Council, 3 September 2025; the CGST, SGST and IGST Acts for the split between central and state tax.
Multiply the price before tax by the rate and divide by 100. At 18%, GST on ₹10,000 is ₹1,800 and the total is ₹11,800. Within one state that ₹1,800 is charged as ₹900 CGST and ₹900 SGST; on a sale to another state it is ₹1,800 IGST.
Divide the inclusive price by 100 plus the rate and multiply by 100. For ₹11,800 at 18%: 11,800 × 100 ÷ 118 = ₹10,000 of value and ₹1,800 of GST. Choose Remove GST, enter the inclusive price and the rate, and the page does this for every item.
When the seller and the place of supply are in the same state or union territory, the tax is split equally into central GST (CGST) and state GST (SGST). When they are in different states, the whole tax is integrated GST (IGST). The total tax is the same either way.
Choosing the rate is the one thing this calculator cannot do for you. Since 22 September 2025 goods are at 5%, 18% or 40% (3%, 1.5% or 0.25% for metals and stones), with no 12% or, from 1 February 2026, 28%. Check your item's rate with CBIC or your adviser, then pick it or use Custom.
Each part is rounded to the paisa, and billing software may round CGST and SGST separately, round the whole invoice to the rupee, or round at a different step. Differences of a paisa or so per item are normal. The calculator keeps the price you entered exact.

GST nikale: type the price and pick the rate. Add GST gives the tax and the total; Remove GST works backwards from an inclusive price as total x 100 / (100 + rate). Within one state the tax splits equally into CGST and SGST, and across states it is IGST. Choosing the correct rate for your goods is up to you.
