Split a folder or ZIP into its photos and its videos

Processed in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. Updated on 25 Oct 2026.

Camera and phone folders hold photos and videos side by side. Choose the folder or drop its ZIP, pick Images or Videos, and take away just that kind, with its subfolders kept or everything side by side. Nothing leaves your device.

How to separate photos and videos in a folder

1

Press Choose a folder and pick the camera or phone folder, or drop its ZIP onto the page.

2

Images is already chosen; press Videos instead, or as well, to change what is kept.

3

Check the Kept list and pick Keep the folders or All in one folder.

4

Press Save into a folder to copy the photos out, or Download files (ZIP); run it again with Videos for the rest.

How Separate Photos and Videos works

The page shows how many of each there are and how much space they take before anything is copied.

An export from an AI video tool, a phone backup or a shared drive arrives as one ZIP or folder holding everything at once: the clips, the stills, the audio, the notes. This page separates them.

See what is inside. A ZIP is read from its index only, so a 10 GB archive is listed in a moment without unpacking anything. Folders are read with their subfolders. Each kind is counted with its total size: videos, images, audio, documents and other files.

Take them away. Download a ZIP of just the kept files, stored without compression because videos and photos are compressed already, or in Chrome and Edge save them straight into a folder you choose. Files are written one at a time, so even a very large export does not have to fit in memory.

Frequently asked questions

How do I extract only the videos from a ZIP file?

Drop the ZIP on this page, keep Videos selected and press Download. The ZIP is read from its index, so nothing else is unpacked, and a new ZIP holding only the video files is made. In Chrome and Edge you can save them straight into a folder instead.

Can I separate photos and videos in a folder?

Yes. Choose the folder, or drop it, and pick Images or Videos. The page counts each kind and its size first, then takes away only the kind you picked, with the subfolders kept or every file side by side, as you choose.

What happens to files with a password in the ZIP?

Files protected by a password are listed as left out, because they cannot be read without it. Unlock the ZIP first with Zip Extract, then drop the unlocked files or folder here to sort them.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The ZIP or folder is read inside your browser and the kept files are written on your device. Nothing is sent to a server at any point, and closing the tab leaves no copy anywhere.
