About the law library
A small selection of provisions from the laws behind Omnikit's calculators, each with its official source, the date Omnikit read it and the calculators that use it. For some countries only the official link is shown.
Beta
- The law library is in beta.
- 50 section pages, each showing official text that an Omnikit calculator links to, are open to search engines and listed in the law sitemap. Every other law page is marked noindex, which asks search engines not to list it, and is in no sitemap. By country: France 10, Germany 40.
- The notes that explain a section (the commentary) are written by Omnikit. They have not been reviewed by a lawyer.
- Each government text was read from the official source on the date shown on its page. The law may have changed since; the official text is the one to rely on.
What a law page shows
- The text of the law, word for word, as published by the official source named on the page, in the language that source publishes it in. Omnikit does not edit, shorten or translate it.
- Where the text came from, the date Omnikit read it, and the date Omnikit last checked it. Every page links the official text, which is the one to rely on.
- The changes the official source lists for the section, and the Omnikit calculators that apply it.
- A short neutral note on what the section covers, labelled on every page: Explanation written by Omnikit from the text above; not reviewed by a lawyer. Not legal advice. Notes marked as drafts have not been reviewed yet.
What it does not do
- It does not say how the law applies to anyone's own situation. “Ask the law” quotes sections; it does not answer questions about a particular case, and it points to the official body that does.
- It does not list or recommend lawyers or firms.
- It does not show the text of a country's laws unless that country's official terms allow it. Those countries are listed with a link to their official portal instead.
- For India it lists the laws Omnikit's calculators use, with what each covers and its official link, but shows no text: Omnikit does not have the Government of India's written permission to reproduce them.
- For Ecuador and Peru it does the same, for another reason: their copyright laws exclude official legal texts from protection, but on 19 October 2026 Omnikit could not read a current official consolidated text (Ecuador's Código del Trabajo) or the official legislation system and its terms (Peru's SPIJ).
