Merge Audio

files

Join several audio files end to end, in the order you choose, without uploading them

Processed in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. Updated on 24 Oct 2026.

Merging audio here joins up to 20 files end to end inside the page, with an optional gap between them, and writes one WAV. Files that disagree are raised to the highest sample rate and widest channel count present, never lowered, and every change is named before the merge runs.

Next:
  • Cut the audio Cut one or more pieces out of an audio file and save them separately or joined
  • Change the volume Make an audio file louder or quieter by an exact amount, with the clipping counted first

How to merge audio files into one

1

Press Choose audio files, or drop two or more files onto the page; nothing is uploaded.

2

Put them in order with the up and down arrows on each row, or remove one with the cross.

3

Pick a Gap between tracks: None, 1 second, 2 seconds or 5 seconds.

4

Press Merge 2 files (the count matches your list), then Download the single WAV file.

About Merge Audio

Add the files, drag them into the order you want, and one recording comes back holding all of them. Everything happens in this tab: no upload, no account, no watermark, and no queue behind other people's jobs.

One file can only have one format

A single audio file has one sample rate and one channel count, so when the files being joined disagree, something has to change. The two directions are not equally honest, which is why the choice is made in one direction only.

Raising a sample rate resamples without discarding anything: a 44,100 Hz recording played back at 48,000 Hz still contains every frequency it held before. Lowering one throws away everything above half the new rate, permanently, and no later step brings it back. Copying a mono track into both sides of a stereo file is exactly reversible; averaging a stereo track into mono cancels whatever was out of phase between the channels and cannot be undone.

So the target is the highest sample rate and the widest channel count in the set. Every file that has to change is listed by name on the page, with what happens to it, before anything runs. Mono is still offered as a deliberate choice, because halving the size is sometimes worth more than the stereo image of a voice note.

The thing the formats never tell you

Two files can match perfectly on rate and channels and still be fifteen decibels apart in level, which a listener hears as one track shouting and the next one mumbling. Each file is measured after decoding, and when the quietest and the loudest are more than six decibels apart the page says so and names both. Levels are never adjusted automatically: changing the loudness of a recording nobody asked to change is not a decision a tool should make on its own.

The output

One WAV, uncompressed, usually several times the size of the compressed files that went into it, because no browser can write an MP3. Up to twenty files, 600 MB in total and three hours in length.

Frequently asked questions

How do I merge two MP3 files into one?

Add both files to this page, check that they are in the order you want, and press the merge button. Each one is decoded in your browser and written end to end into a single file. Up to twenty can be joined at once, and dragging a row changes where it lands.

What happens when the files have different sample rates?

Everything is raised to the highest sample rate in the set, never lowered. Raising one keeps every frequency the recording held, while lowering one would throw away everything above half the new rate for good. Each file that has to be resampled is named on the page before the merge starts.

Can I merge a mono recording with a stereo one?

Yes, and the mono file is copied into both channels rather than the stereo file being flattened. Copying up is exactly reversible; mixing down cancels anything out of phase between the two channels. Switching the whole merge to mono is offered as a deliberate choice, because mono halves the size.

Why is the merged file so much bigger than the files I added?

Merged audio is written as WAV, which stores every sample uncompressed at about 10 MB a minute in stereo. No browser has an MP3 encoder, and the free encoders carry a copyleft licence this site will not ship, so the alternative would be re-compressing your audio with something worse.

Can I put a gap of silence between the tracks?

Set the gap in seconds, up to ten, and that much silence is inserted between one track and the next. A second or two stops two speakers running into each other at the join. The gap counts towards the length and the size of the finished file, both of which are shown before you start.

Does merging change the volume of my tracks?

No level is touched. Each file keeps exactly the loudness it arrived with, which matters because two files can match on format and still sound very different. When the quietest and loudest are more than six decibels apart, the page names both so the step at the join is not a surprise.

Are my files uploaded to a server when I merge them?

Nothing is uploaded. Every file is decoded and joined by your own browser, and the result is written on your device and saved straight to your downloads. No account is asked for, no watermark is added, and the tool works on a plane with the connection switched off.

Still stuck? Ask about Merge Audio and anybody who knows can answer. No account needed.
