Combine contact files into one VCF and merge the people saved twice, by phone or email
Processed in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. Checked against sources on 17 Oct 2026.Merge VCF Files combines up to 500 vCard contact files into one .vcf in your browser and merges people saved more than once, matching on a shared phone number or email address. The first copy keeps its photo and fields and gains the other copies' numbers and emails; nothing is uploaded.
Press Select contact files, or drop two or more .vcf files on the page; they are read on your device.
Read how many people were saved more than once, and which names were merged.
Leave Combine their numbers and emails ticked, or untick it to keep only the first copy.
Press Download to save one .vcf, then import it on your phone or in Gmail.
Contacts end up in several .vcf files when you move between phones, export from Gmail and iCloud separately, or restore a backup on top of an existing list. Importing them all leaves the same person two or three times.
How the same person is recognised.
| Match | Example |
|---|---|
| Phone number, digits only | +91 98765 43210 and 098765 43210 (last ten digits) |
| Email address, any case | [email protected] and [email protected] |
| Full name, when ticked | Two cards both called Ravi Sample |
Matching chains: if one card shares a number with a second, and the second shares an email with a third, all three are one person. Numbers shorter than seven digits, such as 112, never match anything.
What happens to duplicates. With Combine ticked, the first copy of each person is kept exactly as it was, photo, birthday, notes and custom fields included, and every phone number and email the other copies add is written into it. Untick Combine to keep the first copy only. The page lists which names were merged before you download, so a wrong match can be spotted.
What is read. vCard 2.1, 3.0 and 4.0, as exported by Android, iPhone, Gmail, Outlook and iCloud, in UTF-8, Windows-1252 or UTF-16. Each card is copied as text, so fields this page does not understand are never lost. A card cut off at the end of a file is closed and kept.
Tested against a brute-force grouping on 200 random address books, with the output read by a separate minimal reader. Nothing is uploaded.
Drop both .vcf files on Merge VCF Files. Every contact is read, people saved in both are recognised by phone number or email, and the page says how many remain. Press Download and one .vcf holds everyone once, ready to import on a phone or in Gmail.
Two contacts are treated as one person when they share a phone number, compared on its digits so spaces, dashes and a leading +91 or 0 do not matter, or an email address in any case. Tick Same full name to also join contacts with exactly the same name.
No. The first copy of each person is kept as it was, with its photo, birthday, notes and any custom fields. Only phone numbers and emails that the other copies add are written into it. Untick Combine to keep the first copy without adding anything.
Yes. Select up to 500 .vcf files at once, or drop a whole batch on the page, and they become one file. Phones that export one file per contact can then be imported in a single step instead of hundreds.
Two different people are joined when they share a phone number or email, such as a shared office line or family address. The list above the Download button names each merged group; if one is wrong, untick Same full name if it is on, or fix the number in the contact before merging.
No. The files are read and merged by your own browser, and the new .vcf is created on your device. No name, number or address reaches a server, and closing the tab removes everything.
