Strip the date and time from hundreds of file names in one go
Processed in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. Updated on 25 Oct 2026.Cameras, phones, screen recorders and AI tools stamp the date and time into every file name, and a folder of IMG_20260915_101233.jpg is hard to read and harder to sort by what is in it. Drop the files and every stamp is found and removed, with the separators around it tidied.
Choose the folder to rename, or press Choose files and pick the stamped files.
Remove timestamps is already on, and each clip keeps its own number.
Check the After column: IMG_20260915_101233.jpg loses its date and time and the separators are tidied.
Press Rename files on my disk, or Download renamed (zip) in browsers that cannot rename in place.
The page finds 14-digit stamps, date and time with separators, WhatsApp dates, even millisecond epochs. Nothing is re-saved: only the names change.
The Bulk File Renamer gives a folder of files clean names in one step. It was built for AI video clips - Google Flow names every download with the prompt, a clip number and a timestamp - and it works just as well on phone photos, WhatsApp media, screen recordings and anything else a device names for you.
Drop the files and each name is read for three things. A timestamp in any common shape: 20260927131308, 20260915_101233, 2026-09-15 at 10.12.33, a WhatsApp date, or a millisecond epoch. A clip number such as C01, clip 4, WA0003 or a trailing 07. And a stray extension left inside the name, like Manuscript.jpg_2026…jpg, which is dropped rather than doubled.
Files made together are kept together. A batch is every file saved within a few minutes of the one before - ten minutes by default, adjustable - because an AI tool saves one batch across several seconds, not in one instant. Batches follow each other in time, and inside a batch the clip number decides the order, not the second each file happened to be written. So a story made over two days, C01 to C05 on the first and C01 to C07 on the second, comes out numbered C01 to C12.

Drop the files on the page, or pick the folder in Chrome or Edge. Every new name is shown beside the old one: timestamps removed, clips numbered in order, and any prefix, suffix or find-and-replace you add. Press Rename and they change in place, or download them as a zip in other browsers.
Leave "Remove timestamps" on. It finds the stamp in every common form - 14 digits, date and time with separators, WhatsApp dates, epochs - removes it, and tidies the underscores or dashes around it. If two files end up with the same name, the second gets " (2)" so nothing is overwritten.
No. Only the name changes; the video is never opened, decoded or re-encoded, so a 4K or 8K file keeps every frame exactly as it was. That is also why a folder of large videos renames in seconds.
Every new name is shown before anything changes, and the page keeps a list of old and new names you can download. To undo a folder rename, drop the renamed files back in and use find and replace, or keep the downloaded list to rename them back.
