How much loan your gold gets under RBI’s 85/80/75% LTV rule, and the interest
Estimates only, not financial advice. What you type stays on your device. Checked against sources on 30 Oct 2026.A gold loan on 20 grams of 22K gold, at ₹10,000 a gram for 24K, can reach ₹1,55,720 as an EMI loan: 85% of the gold's ₹1,83,200 value, the RBI limit for loans up to ₹2.5 lakh. A 12-month bullet loan at 12% stops at ₹1,39,035.71, ₹6,951.79 a gram, because the interest due at the end counts too.
Rates and rules read from RBI (Lending Against Gold and Silver Collateral) Directions, 2025 on 30 Oct 2026; they may have changed since.
Enter the Net gold weight, without stones, and the 24K rate per gram your lender uses.
Pick the Purity and the Repayment: "Bullet (all at the end)" or Monthly EMI.
Enter the lender's interest rate and the Tenure in months, and choose what the loan is for.
Read Most you can borrow and Loan per gram; open "RBI LTV limits" for the tiers from the RBI Directions under Sources.
A gold loan is capped by the value of the gold you pledge. This calculator values the gold from its net weight (stones and wax removed), its karat and the 24K rate you enter, then applies the Reserve Bank of India's loan-to-value limits and works out the interest.
The RBI limits. The Reserve Bank of India (Lending Against Gold and Silver Collateral) Directions, 2025, issued on 6 June 2025 and binding on every bank and NBFC by 1 April 2026, set the maximum LTV for loans taken for personal use at 85% when the loan is ₹2.5 lakh or less, 80% above ₹2.5 lakh up to ₹5 lakh, and 75% above ₹5 lakh. Because the tier depends on the loan, the calculator walks all three and keeps the largest loan that fits: ₹6.5 lakh of gold gets ₹5 lakh at 80%, not ₹4.875 lakh at 75%.
Bullet or EMI. For a bullet loan, where you pay everything at the end, RBI counts the principal plus all the interest due at maturity inside the LTV, and caps the tenor at 12 months (renewable). So a bullet loan gets less principal than an EMI loan on the same gold. Bullet interest is worked as simple interest for the tenure; EMI loans on a reducing balance.
The gold rate is yours to enter. There is no live price here. Lenders value gold at the lower of the 30-day average and the previous day's closing price for that purity, as published by the India Bullion and Jewellers Association or a SEBI-regulated exchange, so enter that rate. Lower karats are valued at their fineness share of the 24K rate, 91.6% for 22K.
What it does not do. It does not know your lender's own LTV, which can be lower than RBI's maximum, or processing fees and penalty interest. Loans for farming or business are not covered by the 85/80/75% table; for them enter the lender's LTV. RBI also limits pledges to 1 kg of ornaments and 50 grams of coins per borrower.

Multiply the weight by the 24K rate per gram and by 0.916 for 22K, then by the LTV. At ₹10,000 a gram of 24K, 10 grams of 22K is worth ₹91,600, and a loan under ₹2.5 lakh repaid in EMIs can reach 85% of it, ₹77,860. A 12-month bullet loan at 12% gets ₹69,517.86.
Under RBI's Lending Against Gold and Silver Collateral Directions of 6 June 2025, a loan for personal use can be at most 85% of the gold's value when the loan is ₹2.5 lakh or less, 80% above ₹2.5 lakh up to ₹5 lakh, and 75% above ₹5 lakh. Lenders must keep within it for the whole loan.
RBI counts the full amount repayable at maturity, principal plus interest, inside the LTV for a bullet loan. At 12% for 12 months, ₹1,00,000 repayable becomes ₹89,285.71 of principal. An EMI loan repays principal as it goes, so only the principal is counted and the same gold supports a larger loan.
RBI tells lenders to use the lower of the 30-day average closing price and the previous day's closing price for gold of that purity, published by the India Bullion and Jewellers Association or a SEBI-regulated commodity exchange. On a rising market that is below today's price, so enter the lower figure for a safe estimate.
At most 12 months for a loan taken for personal use, under the 2025 RBI Directions; the lender can renew it after that. EMI gold loans can run longer, as the lender's policy allows. The calculator refuses a bullet tenure over 12 months for a personal loan and allows up to 60 months for EMIs.
No. Enter the net gold weight after stones, beads and wax are removed, because lenders value only the gold. Processing fees, valuation charges, GST on fees and penal interest vary by lender and are not included, so ask for the key facts statement and add them to the interest shown here.
