Short-term crop loans taken through a Kisan Credit Card (KCC) carry a government interest subsidy called the Modified Interest Subvention Scheme (MISS). This calculator applies it to your loan and shows the interest, the total to repay and what the scheme saves against your bank's normal rate.
The scheme figures. The Reserve Bank of India's circular of 13 January 2026 (RBI/2025-26/193) continuing MISS for 2025-26 sets them: short-term loans for crops and allied activities up to an overall ₹3 lakh at 7% a year to the farmer, and a further 3% a year for farmers who repay promptly, which brings the rate to 4%. For loans only for animal husbandry, dairy, fisheries or bee-keeping the limit is ₹2 lakh. The subsidy runs from drawal until repayment or the due date, whichever is earlier, for at most one year. Nothing above the limit is subsidised; that part pays the bank's own rate, which you enter.
₹3 lakh or ₹5 lakh? The Union Budget 2025-26 announced a rise of the limit to ₹5 lakh. The Cabinet release of May 2025 said the rise was still under consideration, and the January 2026 RBI circular keeps ₹3 lakh. We found no notification of the ₹5 lakh limit, or of the scheme for 2026-27, when we checked on 30 Sep 2026, so ₹3 lakh is the default and ₹5 lakh is a choice for when your bank confirms it. Ask your branch which limit and rate apply to your card this year.
What it does not do. A KCC is a revolving limit and banks charge interest on the daily balance you use; this calculator takes one drawal repaid in one go, with simple interest, for up to 12 months. It does not include processing fees, insurance premiums debited to the card, or the higher rate a bank charges after the due date. Term loans for machinery or land development are not covered by the scheme.

Under the Modified Interest Subvention Scheme, short-term KCC loans up to ₹3 lakh are charged 7% a year. Farmers who repay by the due date get a further 3% prompt repayment incentive, so the effective rate is 4%. The RBI circular of 13 January 2026 continued these figures for 2025-26.
Only the first ₹3 lakh gets the subsidised rate. The amount above it pays the bank's own rate for agricultural loans. On ₹4 lakh for a year at a 9% bank rate, interest is ₹3,00,000 × 4% plus ₹1,00,000 × 9%, which is ₹12,000 plus ₹9,000, or ₹21,000 when repaid on time.
The Union Budget 2025-26 announced a rise of the interest subvention limit from ₹3 lakh to ₹5 lakh. The RBI circular of 13 January 2026 still sets ₹3 lakh for 2025-26, and no notification of the higher limit was found on 30 Sep 2026. Choose ₹5 lakh in the calculator only if your bank confirms it.
Repaying by the due date the bank fixed for the loan, and within one year of drawing it, whichever comes first. The 3% incentive is paid only to farmers who meet that date. Repay late and the subsidised part is charged 7%, and the bank may charge its card rate after the due date.
Yes. When the KCC loan is only for animal husbandry, dairy, fisheries or bee-keeping, the subsidised limit is ₹2 lakh, inside the overall ₹3 lakh for farmers who also take crop loans. Tick the allied activities option in the calculator and it uses the ₹2 lakh limit.
Only approximately. A KCC is a revolving limit, and banks charge interest on the daily balance used. The calculator takes one drawal repaid after the months you enter. For several drawals, work each one out separately with its own months and add the results together.
