Income tax, GST and HRA worked out the way the rules actually apply
Everything here runs in your browser. Files are never uploaded.Tax questions tend to arrive at the worst moment: while writing an invoice, when an employer asks for rent receipts, or in the week the declaration is due. These work out the tax on a salary under both regimes, GST on a price in either direction with the CGST, SGST and IGST split, and the part of your house rent allowance that is exempt under section 10(13A), showing each step so you can check the arithmetic yourself.
Income Tax Calculator puts the old and the new regime side by side with the slab-wise working shown for each. The choice between them is arithmetic, not opinion: the new regime has wider slabs and almost no deductions, the old one is narrower and lets you subtract HRA, provident fund, insurance and home loan interest. Whichever total is lower is the answer, and for most people who do not claim much it is the new one.
GST Calculator adds GST to a price or takes it out of an inclusive one, and splits the tax into CGST and SGST for a sale within a state or IGST for one between states. Rates have been restructured more than once, so confirm the rate for your goods before you invoice.
HRA Calculator applies the least-of-three rule: the HRA you received, rent paid minus ten percent of basic pay, and half of basic pay in a metro city or forty percent elsewhere. HRA exemption exists only under the old tax regime.
Rupees to Words spells an amount for a cheque or an invoice, in Indian lakh and crore or in international millions. An invoice that carries the amount in words as well as figures is harder to alter and is expected on most formats, and the two number-naming systems are a common source of confusion between an Indian and an overseas counterparty.
They are calculators, not advice. They follow the rules as written and show the rate or rule they used, but your situation may have details they cannot see. For filing, check with a chartered accountant.
Divide the price by one plus the rate. For 18 percent, a price of 1,180 contains 180 of GST. The calculator does this when you choose "remove GST".
A sale within one state carries CGST and SGST in equal halves. A sale between states carries IGST at the full rate.
