Checked against sources on 9 Oct 2026.A Hijri year has 12 lunar months of 29 or 30 days, 354 or 355 days in all, about 11 days shorter than the Gregorian year. On the Umm al-Qura calendar, 1 Ramadan 1445 AH was Monday 11 March 2024 and 1 Muharram 1448 AH falls on 16 June 2026.

This converter turns a Gregorian date into the Hijri date and back, on the Umm al-Qura calendar, the official civil calendar of Saudi Arabia that government documents, contracts and Iqama dates use. It also shows the weekday, how many days the Hijri month has, and every day of that month beside its Gregorian date.
How it works. Your browser already carries the Umm al-Qura month table (the Unicode CLDR and ICU data behind every modern browser), so the conversion happens on your device with nothing fetched. Both directions use the same table, so a date converted there and back always returns to itself; the tests check every day from 1937 to 2077.
Checked against a published table. The results match R. H. van Gent's table of the principal days on the Umm al-Qura calendar for every year from 1420 to 1450 AH, 124 dates:
| Hijri year | 1 Muharram | 1 Ramadan | 1 Shawwal (Eid al-Fitr) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1445 | 19 July 2023 | 11 March 2024 | 10 April 2024 |
| 1446 | 7 July 2024 | 1 March 2025 | 30 March 2025 |
| 1447 | 26 June 2025 | 18 February 2026 | 20 March 2026 |
| 1448 | 16 June 2026 | 8 February 2027 | 9 March 2027 |
Sighting can differ by a day. Umm al-Qura is calculated in advance. The start of Ramadan, the two Eids and the days of Hajj are set by sighting the new moon, announced by Saudi Arabia's Supreme Court and by each country's own authority, so those days can be a day earlier or later than the calendar, and differ between Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt and Lebanon. For a religious date, follow the announcement where you live.
Range. From 1 Muharram 1356 AH (14 March 1937) to the end of 1500 AH (16 November 2077). Dates outside that range are refused rather than guessed. Other Islamic calendars, such as the tabular civil calendar, can differ by one or two days and are not offered.

Choose Hijri to Gregorian, type the day, pick the month and type the year. The converter reads the Umm al-Qura table built into your browser and shows the Gregorian date with its weekday: 1 Ramadan 1445 AH, for example, was Monday 11 March 2024.
Saudi Arabia's official civil calendar is the Umm al-Qura calendar, a Hijri calendar calculated in advance from astronomical rules. Government documents, Iqama dates and many contracts use it, often beside the Gregorian date. The converter uses the same calendar.
Religious dates are set by sighting the new moon, announced by Saudi Arabia's Supreme Court and by each country's own authority, while Umm al-Qura is calculated ahead. A sighting a day earlier or later moves Ramadan or Eid by one day, and countries such as Egypt or the UAE may announce different days.
Each Hijri month has 29 or 30 days, following the moon, so a Hijri year has 354 or 355 days, about 11 days fewer than a Gregorian year. Ramadan 1445 had 30 days and Ramadan 1446 had 29; the converter shows the length of every month.
On the Umm al-Qura calendar, 1 Muharram 1448 AH falls on Tuesday 16 June 2026, and 1 Ramadan 1448 on Monday 8 February 2027. The actual start of Ramadan depends on the moon sighting announced at the time and may differ by a day.
From 1 Muharram 1356 AH, 14 March 1937, to the end of 1500 AH, 16 November 2077. Dates outside that range are refused rather than estimated, because the converter is checked only inside that range.
