When India and a US or UK team are both at work on a given date, daylight saving included
Runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere. Updated on 25 Oct 2026.India is 9 hours 30 minutes ahead of New York in summer and 10 hours 30 minutes ahead in winter, because only the US changes its clocks. With India working 10:00 to 19:00 and New York 09:00 to 17:00, the teams share 30 minutes in summer and none in winter.
Set the "Date in India", or press "Use today".
Pick the "Other team" time zone, from US Eastern to US Pacific or "UK (GMT / BST)".
Enter "India starts (IST)" and "India ends (IST)", then the start and end times of the other team.
Read "Both at work" with the shared window in both time zones, then press "Share result".
Teams split between India and the US or UK lose hours every week to one question: when are we both at work? This tool answers it for a particular date. Pick the date, the other team's time zone and both teams' working hours, and it shows the shared window in India Standard Time and in the other zone, how far apart the two clocks are that day, and a 24-hour strip of both working days side by side.
The date matters because of daylight saving. India keeps IST all year. The US moves its clocks forward on the second Sunday of March and back on the first Sunday of November; the UK does so on the last Sundays of March and October. So India is 9 hours 30 minutes ahead of New York in summer and 10 hours 30 minutes in winter, and for a few weeks each spring and autumn the US has changed and the UK has not.
No offset table. Every conversion uses the time-zone database built into your browser, by zone name: Asia/Kolkata, America/New_York, America/Chicago, America/Denver, America/Los_Angeles and Europe/London. Browsers update that database when governments change their rules, so the answer follows the rules in force for the date you pick.
Late shifts and early calls. An end time earlier than the start time is read as a shift that runs past midnight. The tool also checks the other team's previous and next working day, so an India morning that overlaps a Californian evening is found too.
What it does not do. Public holidays, weekends and Arizona, which stays on Mountain Standard Time all year, are not taken into account. The strip shows half hours, so a window that starts at a quarter past the hour is exact in the figures but rounded in the picture.
India is 9 hours 30 minutes ahead of New York while the US is on daylight saving time, from the second Sunday of March to the first Sunday of November, and 10 hours 30 minutes ahead for the rest of the year. India keeps IST all year, so the difference changes only when the US changes its clocks.
For the East Coast, the usual window is 8:00 to 10:00 in the morning in New York, which is 5:30 to 7:30 in the evening in India during US summer, or 6:30 to 8:30 in winter. For the West Coast there is rarely an office-hours overlap, so one side has to work early or late.
No. India uses India Standard Time, UTC plus 5 hours 30 minutes, all year. The gap to the US and UK therefore changes twice a year, when those countries move their clocks. That is why this tool asks for a date: the same 9 a.m. meeting in London is 1:30 p.m. in India in summer and 2:30 p.m. in winter.
With India working 10:00 to 19:00 and London 09:00 to 17:00, the teams share 5 hours 30 minutes during British Summer Time, when India is 4 hours 30 minutes ahead, and 4 hours 30 minutes in winter on GMT, when India is 5 hours 30 minutes ahead. Enter your real hours for your exact overlap.
The US moves its clocks on the second Sunday of March and the first Sunday of November, the UK on the last Sundays of March and October. For two or three weeks each spring and one week each autumn, only one of them has changed, so a meeting with both at once shifts by an hour for India.
From the time-zone database built into your browser, looked up by zone names such as America/New_York and Europe/London. Nothing is typed in by hand, so when a country changes its daylight saving rules and browsers update, the answer changes too. The calculation runs on your device and nothing is sent anywhere.
