Amounts in Spanish words for cheques and invoices: dólares, pesos, con 50/100 and M.N.
Runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere. Checked against sources on 9 Oct 2026.Spanish writes 1,234.50 dollars on a cheque as "mil doscientos treinta y cuatro dólares con 50/100", and a Mexican invoice writes the same in pesos as "mil doscientos treinta y cuatro pesos 50/100 M.N.". Before a noun uno becomes un and veintiuno becomes veintiún: veintiún dólares.
Type the figure in Amount, or tap one of the example amounts.
Pick the currency: dólares (El Salvador), pesos mexicanos or pesos argentinos.
Choose Cheque for the "con 50/100" line, Words to spell the centavos, or Number for the number alone.
Check the figure under the words against your cheque, then press Copy.
This converter writes any amount in Spanish words for a cheque, an invoice, a receipt or a contract. Choose US dollars for El Salvador, Mexican pesos or Argentine pesos, and the line appears as you type, with the figure under it to check against the amount box.
Three styles. Cheque writes the centavos as a fraction of 100, the way banks and invoices do so nothing can be added after them: "con 50/100", and "50/100 M.N." (moneda nacional) on Mexican invoices. Words spells the centavos too: "con cincuenta centavos". Number gives the bare number with no currency, for a quantity or a legal text.
The forms that are easy to get wrong. Spanish has a separate word for every number up to 29, and some carry an accent: dieciséis, veintidós, veintitrés, veintiséis. Before a noun, uno shortens to un and veintiuno to veintiún, so 21 dollars is "veintiún dólares" and 101 pesos "ciento un pesos"; on its own the number is veintiuno. A thousand is mil, never "un mil" in ordinary writing, and 21,000 is veintiún mil. A million is un millón, two million dos millones, and an exact number of millions takes "de" before the currency: un millón de pesos, but un millón quinientos mil pesos. A billón is a million millions, not a thousand millions.
How it is checked. Every number from 0 to 120,000, every seventh number up to a million and a spread of larger ones are compared word for word with the Unicode CLDR spelling rules for Spanish.
What it does not do. It does not write feminine forms (doscientas), ordinals or other currencies, and it does not add the "un mil" some banks ask for; type that word yourself if yours does.
Everything runs in your browser; nothing you type is sent anywhere.
Write "mil quinientos dólares con 00/100". A thousand is mil on its own, without "un", and the centavos go as a fraction of 100 so nothing can be added after them. Type 1500 into the converter with Cheque and dólares selected to get the exact line.
Before a masculine noun the number shortens: veintiún dólares, un peso, ciento un pesos, treinta y un mil. On its own, as when counting, it stays veintiuno. The converter uses the short form whenever a currency follows and the full form in Number style.
Only after an exact number of millions: un millón de pesos, dos millones de dólares. When anything follows the millions there is no "de": un millón quinientos mil pesos. The converter adds it automatically.
50/100 is the centavos written as a fraction of a hundred, and M.N. stands for moneda nacional, the Mexican peso. An invoice's importe con letra usually reads "mil doscientos treinta y cuatro pesos 50/100 M.N.", which is the Cheque style with pesos mexicanos selected.
Dieciséis, veintidós, veintitrés and veintiséis, plus veintiún before a noun, millón and billón. Others such as veinticuatro, treinta y dos and quinientos have none. The converter's spellings are checked against the Unicode CLDR rules for Spanish, number by number up to 120,000.
No. In Spanish a billón is a million millions, 10 to the power of 12. A thousand million is mil millones. So 2,500,000,000 is written dos mil quinientos millones, and the converter writes amounts up to 9,999,999,999,999.99.
