A VA loan has no monthly mortgage insurance (PMI). Put in your own figures.
A VA home loan is a mortgage from a private lender with part of it guaranteed by the Department of Veterans Affairs. The guarantee means an eligible Veteran, service member or surviving spouse can buy with no down payment and pays no monthly mortgage insurance. What VA charges instead is a one-time funding fee, and this calculator works it out along with the full monthly payment.
The monthly payment. Principal and interest on the loan including any financed fee, plus property tax and homeowners insurance from your own figures. There is no PMI line because VA loans do not carry it.
What it does not do. It does not check your entitlement, set a loan limit, or include closing costs, HOA dues or lender credits. The table under the calculator lists VA's fees for refinances, assumptions and other loan types, but the calculator itself handles purchases only. The rate, tax and insurance defaults are examples to replace with your own.

Yes. For the example $400,000 home with zero down, principal and interest are $2,515.82 a month; $4,800 of property tax a year adds $400 and $1,800 of homeowners insurance adds $150, for $3,065.82 in all. There is no PMI line: a VA loan has no monthly mortgage insurance.
For a purchase loan with less than 5% down, VA charges 2.15% of the loan on first use and 3.3% on later use. With 5% or more down the fee is 1.5%, and with 10% or more it is 1.25%, for first and later use alike. On a $400,000 loan with nothing down, first use costs $8,600.
No. VA loans carry no monthly mortgage insurance at any down payment, which is the main reason their monthly cost is usually lower than an FHA or low-down conventional loan. The one-time funding fee replaces it, and many borrowers add that fee to the loan balance.
Yes. On a purchase or construction loan, va.gov says the funding fee is the only closing cost that can be financed into the loan amount. Financing it raises the monthly payment slightly and adds interest over the term; paying it in cash keeps the loan smaller. Switch between the two to compare.
HOA dues, closing costs other than the funding fee, and lender credits are not included, and the calculator does not check entitlement or loan limits. Enter your own rate, property tax and homeowners insurance, since the defaults are examples only.
