Turn a long link into a short one with a QR code, free and without an account
The link you shorten is stored on our server so the short link works. Nothing else you type is sent.A URL shortener turns a long web address into a short link that redirects to it. This one makes a theomnikit.com/s/ link with a 7-character code and a QR code, free and without an account. The long link is stored on our server so the short one works, and it can expire after 1, 7 or 30 days.
Paste the long link; it is checked as you type.
Choose an expiry or a custom ending if you want one, then press Shorten link.
Copy the short link or download its QR code.
A short link is easier to type, print, read out and fit into a message than an address with tracking parameters on the end. Paste the long link, press Shorten link, and you get an address of the form theomnikit.com/s/ followed by 7 letters and digits, with a QR code that opens it.
Unlike the other tools on this site, this one cannot run only in your browser: a short link has to be looked up somewhere when it is opened. The long link, its code, the dates, the click count and a hashed, daily-changing version of your IP address (used only for the limits) are stored on our server. Do not shorten a link that contains private information.
A link can last until it is no longer used, or expire after 1, 7 or 30 days. A link that is never clicked for 12 months is deleted. A custom ending of 3 to 32 lower-case letters, digits and hyphens replaces the random code. Add a + to the end of any short link to see where it goes, when it was made and how often it was opened, without being sent there.
To keep the links safe to open, the tool refuses other shorteners, bare IP addresses, private networks, links with a password in them, lookalike domains and sites on a blocklist. Each connection can create 20 links an hour and 100 a day. Anyone can report a link from its preview page, and a reported link is reviewed and can be switched off.
The URL Shortener is free and needs no account or sign-up. Each connection can create 20 short links an hour and 100 a day. Every link gets a QR code that opens it, an optional custom ending of your own words and an optional expiry of 1, 7 or 30 days.
You choose when you create it: until it stops being used, or 1, 7 or 30 days. A link without an expiry is deleted after 12 months in which nobody opened it. After it expires or is deleted, the short link shows a page saying it no longer works, and its code is never given to anyone else.
The long link, the short code, the date it was created and when it expires, how many times it was opened, and a hashed version of your IP address that changes every day and is used only for the limits. No name, email, cookie or browser details are stored with the link.
Add a plus sign to the end of the short link, such as theomnikit.com/s/Ab3dE7x+, and open that instead. The preview page shows the full destination, the date the link was created and how many times it has been opened, without sending you there. It also has a form for reporting the link.
Links are refused when they hide where they lead: other shorteners such as bit.ly, bare IP addresses, private network names, a user name or password before an @, lookalike letters or a fake domain in front of the real one, and sites on our blocklist. The message under the box names the reason.
Yes. Open Custom ending and type 3 to 32 lower-case letters, digits or hyphens, such as spring-sale. Words that imitate a bank, a login or a well-known brand are refused, as are the site's own page names. If the ending is already in use, choose another or leave it empty for a random code.
