Open a .enc file encrypted here, with its password
Processed in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. Updated on 24 Oct 2026.Open a .enc file that was encrypted with this tool. Drop it in, type the password that was used to lock it, and the original file comes back with its own name and type. Every part is checked against its authentication tag as it is decrypted, so a changed or damaged file is refused rather than returned half broken. The file and the password stay on your device.
The page opens on Decrypt a .enc file; press Select .enc files or drop the encrypted files in.

Encrypt File locks any file with a password you choose, using AES-256-GCM, and gives you a single .enc file that only that password opens. The same page decrypts it again: drop the .enc file in, type the password, and the original comes back with its own name, byte for byte.
Everything runs in your browser with the WebCrypto engine built into it. Nothing is uploaded, and the password is never stored or sent. Your password is stretched with PBKDF2-SHA-256 over 600,000 rounds with a random salt, which makes guessing slow, and the file is sealed in 1 MB chunks, each with its own nonce and authentication tag, so a large file shows progress and any change, reordering or cut-off is detected. The original file name is encrypted too; only the size shows from outside. Files up to 1 GB each, ten at a time.
There is no password recovery and no back door. If you forget the password, the file cannot be opened by you, by us or by anyone, so store it in a password manager. Use a long passphrase of four or more random words. To share a set of files in a format anyone can open, Protect ZIP makes a password-protected zip instead.

The file is encrypted with AES-256 in GCM mode, which also detects any change to the file. The key comes from your password through PBKDF2-SHA-256 with 600,000 rounds and a random salt, following current OWASP guidance. A long passphrase matters more than any setting: use four or more random words.
The recipient opens this page, chooses Decrypt, drops the .enc file in and types the password. The original file comes back with its own name. Send the password by a different route from the file, such as a phone call or a different messaging app.
