Read a saved .eml email in the browser and get its attachments out, without Outlook
Processed in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. Checked against sources on 17 Oct 2026.An .eml is a whole email saved as one file: headers, text and attachments. Without a mail program it opens as a wall of code. Drop it here to read who sent it, to whom, when, and the message itself, with any PDF, photo or spreadsheet attached ready to save. HTML emails are shown as text, so nothing in them can load or track. Nothing is uploaded.

An .eml file is one email exactly as it travelled: a block of headers, then the body in MIME parts, with attachments written out as long runs of letters. Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail and Thunderbird all save and send them, and a computer without a mail program shows only code.
| Part of the email | Shown as |
|---|---|
| From, To, Cc, Date, Subject | Plain text, with encoded names such as =?UTF-8?B?...?= decoded |
| The message | The plain text version; if there is only HTML, it is turned into text |
| Links in an HTML email | Listed under the message, as text you can copy |
| Attachments | One row each with name, type and size, and a Save button |
| A forwarded email attached | Opened too, under the main one |
Outlook .msg files are a different, binary format. Outlook on the web and the new Outlook can save a message as .eml, which opens here.
The rest of the article, and all 6 questions about EML Viewer, are on the EML Viewer page.
Drop the .eml file on EML Viewer. The sender, recipients, date, subject and message text appear straight away in your browser, with any attachments listed below. Nothing needs installing, and the same page works on Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and iPhone.
Open the .eml here and each attachment is listed with its name, type and size. Press Save on a row to keep one file, or Download all attachments to get them in one zip. The files come out exactly as the sender attached them.
Safer than a mail program. The HTML of the email is turned into plain text, so no script runs, no remote image loads and no tracking pixel reports back. Attachments are only saved when you ask; open saved files with the usual care, since a harmful attachment stays harmful.
No. An .msg file is Outlook's own binary format, not a standard email file. In Outlook on the web or the new Outlook, open the message and save or download it, which gives an .eml file that opens here.
Rates and rules change; check the source before you rely on a figure.
