CPP2 is a second contribution of 4% on earnings between $74,600 and $85,000 in 2026, at most $416 a year. A payroll starts taking it only in the pay in which your earnings for the year pass $74,600, so most employees with high salaries see it late in the year.
Employment Insurance premiums are 1.63% of insurable earnings from the first dollar, outside Quebec, up to $68,900 of earnings. The most an employee pays in 2026 is $1,123.07. A $2,500 pay loses $40.75 of EI, and the premium stops once the yearly maximum is reached.
An employer matches the employee's CPP and CPP2 dollar for dollar and pays 1.4 times the employee's EI premium. For 2026 the employer's maximums are $4,230.45 of CPP, $416 of CPP2 and $1,572.30 of EI for each employee, on top of the pay itself.
Deductions stop once the yearly maximum is reached in the job with that employer: $4,230.45 of CPP and $1,123.07 of EI in 2026. On $8,000 a month, EI stops in the ninth pay and regular CPP in the tenth, so the last pays of the year are larger.
