Hours India (IST) and the US East Coast (EST or EDT) are both at work, on any date
Runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere. Updated on 25 Oct 2026.India is 9 hours 30 minutes ahead of New York from March to early November and 10 hours 30 minutes ahead in winter, because the US changes its clocks and India does not. A 9 a.m. start in New York is 6:30 p.m. in India in summer and 7:30 p.m. in winter.
Set the "Date in India"; "Other team" is already set to "US Eastern (ET)".
Enter "India starts (IST)" and "India ends (IST)" for the Indian team.
Enter "New York starts" and "New York ends" for the East Coast team.
Read "Both at work" and "India ahead of New York", then try a winter date to see the daylight saving shift.
Pick a date and both teams’ hours to see exactly when they overlap, in IST and in Eastern time.
Teams split between India and the US or UK lose hours every week to one question: when are we both at work? This tool answers it for a particular date. Pick the date, the other team's time zone and both teams' working hours, and it shows the shared window in India Standard Time and in the other zone, how far apart the two clocks are that day, and a 24-hour strip of both working days side by side.
The date matters because of daylight saving. India keeps IST all year. The US moves its clocks forward on the second Sunday of March and back on the first Sunday of November; the UK does so on the last Sundays of March and October. So India is 9 hours 30 minutes ahead of New York in summer and 10 hours 30 minutes in winter, and for a few weeks each spring and autumn the US has changed and the UK has not.
Late shifts and early calls. An end time earlier than the start time is read as a shift that runs past midnight. The tool also checks the other team's previous and next working day, so an India morning that overlaps a Californian evening is found too.

India is 9 hours 30 minutes ahead of New York while the US is on daylight saving time, from the second Sunday of March to the first Sunday of November, and 10 hours 30 minutes ahead for the rest of the year. India keeps IST all year, so the difference changes only when the US changes its clocks.
For the East Coast, the usual window is 8:00 to 10:00 in the morning in New York, which is 5:30 to 7:30 in the evening in India during US summer, or 6:30 to 8:30 in winter. For the West Coast there is rarely an office-hours overlap, so one side has to work early or late.
No. India uses India Standard Time, UTC plus 5 hours 30 minutes, all year. The gap to the US and UK therefore changes twice a year, when those countries move their clocks. That is why this tool asks for a date: the same 9 a.m. meeting in London is 1:30 p.m. in India in summer and 2:30 p.m. in winter.
With India working 10:00 to 19:00 and London 09:00 to 17:00, the teams share 5 hours 30 minutes during British Summer Time, when India is 4 hours 30 minutes ahead, and 4 hours 30 minutes in winter on GMT, when India is 5 hours 30 minutes ahead. Enter your real hours for your exact overlap.
