Number the pages of a PDF, in the corner and format you choose
Processed in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. Updated on 24 Oct 2026.Page numbers make a printed bundle usable, and a court or a university often insists on them. Choose the corner, the format and where the numbering starts, then apply it to a PDF of up to 2,000 pages. The file is stamped on your device and never uploaded.
Press Select a PDF, or drop it onto the page.
Pick a Position on the grid and a Format such as Page 1 or 1 / N.
Set Start at, Text size and Margin, and turn on Skip the first page for a cover.
Press Add page numbers, then download the numbered PDF.
Add Page Numbers stamps a number on the pages of a PDF, in the corner and style you choose. Pick one of six positions, top or bottom and left, centre or right, then a format: a plain 1, Page 1, Page 1 of N or 1 / N. The preview shows the real page with its number before you save.
It is the finishing step for documents that get printed, bound or discussed page by page. A thesis or project report usually wants numbers at the bottom centre, starting after the title page. A legal bundle or tender response often uses Page 1 of N so that a missing sheet is obvious. A set of scanned pages merged into one file has no numbers at all until you add them here.
Skip the first page to leave a cover unnumbered; page 2 then carries your start number. Start from any number when this PDF continues another, and limit the numbers to a range such as 3-40 so the appendix stays clean. Numbers follow the document order, and "of N" is the last number printed.
The numbers are drawn in Helvetica on top of each page, upright even on pages that are stored sideways. Existing numbers are not removed, so check the preview for a clash. Everything runs in your browser; the PDF never leaves your device. Files up to 100 MB and 2,000 pages work, and a protected PDF asks for its password and is saved without it. Use Merge PDF first to number several files as one.
Add the PDF, pick where the number goes (six positions, top or bottom, left, centre or right) and how it reads, such as 1, Page 1 or Page 1 of N. Check the preview of the page, then click Add page numbers and download. It takes seconds and nothing is uploaded.
Yes. Switch on "Skip the first page". The cover gets no number and the second page carries your start number, which is usually 1. If you would rather the second page showed 2, set the start number to 2.
Yes. Type any whole number from 0 up in "Start at". This helps when a PDF is the second part of a longer document, or when a chapter must continue the page numbers of the one before it. "Page N of N" then counts to the last number printed.
Yes. Type a range such as 3-40 or 2-10, 12 in "Pages". Only those pages get a number, counted in document order from your start number. Leave the box empty to number every page.
No. The PDF is read and the numbers are drawn inside your browser, on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server, and nothing is kept after you close the tab.
The number is drawn on top of the page at the position you choose and does not remove anything underneath. If the page already has a number or a footer there, pick another corner or a larger margin; the live preview shows exactly where it lands.
Page numbers jodo: add the PDF, pick one of six positions, choose a format such as 1, Page 1 or Page 1 of N, and download. Skip the first page to leave a cover unnumbered, start at any number, or limit numbering to a range such as 3-40. Files up to 100 MB and 2,000 pages work.
