Make favicon.ico, Apple and Android icons from an image or two letters
Processed in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. Updated on 24 Oct 2026.A favicon is the small square beside a tab, and browsers ask for it in several sizes. From one image, or from two letters, this makes favicon.ico plus the Apple and Android icons and the HTML to paste. One file up to 20 MB, generated locally.
Under Make it from, keep Letters and type one or two letters, or choose An image and add your logo.
Set the Background and Letters colour, and move Rounded corners between Square and Circle.
Check the icon previews at real size, and fill in Site details for the manifest if you want a name and theme colour.
Press Download all icons (zip), then copy the tags under Paste inside <head> into your page.
Favicon Generator makes every icon a website needs from one picture or from one or two letters. You get favicon.ico with 16, 32 and 48 pixel images inside, PNG icons at 16, 32, 48, 180, 192 and 512 pixels, a site.webmanifest file and the HTML tags to paste into your page, all in one zip.
Start from your logo if you have one: choose the square part to use, and the preview shows how it looks at tab size, where fine detail disappears. If you do not have a logo yet, type your initials, pick a background colour, letter colour and corner roundness, and you have a clean text icon in seconds. Small business sites, portfolios, internal dashboards and side projects all look more finished with a proper icon in the browser tab and on phone home screens.
The favicon.ico file is written by the tool itself with PNG images inside, a layout that every current browser and Windows since Vista support. The 180 pixel icon is the Apple touch icon for iPhone and iPad; the 192 and 512 pixel icons are listed in the manifest for Android and installable sites.
Nothing is uploaded. Your image is drawn at each size in your browser and the zip is built on your device. For the sharpest results use a square image of at least 512 pixels; the tool warns you when a source will be enlarged. Upload the files to your site's root folder, or change the path so the tags point to wherever you put them.
Add your logo, or type one or two letters and choose colours. Check the small previews, then download the zip. Put the files in your site's root folder and paste the HTML tags shown on this page inside the head of your pages. Browsers pick the right size automatically.
No. Every size is drawn on a canvas in your browser, and the favicon.ico, the six PNG files, the site.webmanifest and the zip are all built on your device. Your logo never leaves your computer, so there is nothing to delete afterwards and no server copy of your brand mark anywhere.
Browsers use 16 and 32 pixels in tabs and bookmarks, Windows uses 48, iPhones and iPads use a 180 pixel Apple touch icon, and Android uses 192 and 512 pixels from the web manifest. This tool makes all of them, plus favicon.ico with 16, 32 and 48 inside.
Yes. Add the PNG and download favicon.ico on its own or with the full set. Transparency is kept because each size inside the icon is stored as a PNG. A square image of 512 pixels or more gives the sharpest result.
Usually because the logo has fine detail or thin text that cannot survive being shrunk to 16 pixels, or because a small source image was enlarged for the bigger sizes. Try a simpler mark, such as the first letter of your name, and use a source image of at least 512 pixels.
One image up to 20 MB. JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, AVIF and HEIC are accepted. Letter icons take one or two letters or digits; symbols and emoji are not supported because they render differently on every device.
