Open a zip in the browser and save only the files you need
Processed in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. Updated on 25 Oct 2026.Open a zip file straight in your browser, on a phone, a school computer or any laptop where you cannot install software. The contents appear as a folder tree with the size of every file, and you save just the ones you need or all of them at once.
The page opens on Open a zip; press Select a zip or drop the .zip onto the page.
Browse the folder tree that lists every file in the zip with its size.
Press the download button beside a file to save only that one.
Press Save all to a folder, or Download all, to take out everything with its folders.
Password-protected zips are recognised and sent to the right tool, and suspicious archives that would explode in size are refused before they are opened.
Zip / Unzip makes a zip file from any files you choose, or opens a zip so you can take out exactly what you need. Creating a zip packs everything into one file that is easy to email or upload; opening one shows the contents as a folder tree with the size of every file, a download button on each, and one button to save them all.
People use it to send twenty scanned pages as a single attachment, to upload a project folder to a portal that takes only one file, and to open a zip that arrived by email on a phone or an office computer where installing an unzip program is not allowed. Drop a whole folder and its subfolders keep their structure inside the zip. Pick a compression level: None is fastest for photos and videos, which are already compressed, and Maximum squeezes documents, spreadsheets and text the most.
Everything happens in your browser, so files are never uploaded. Before any zip is opened, its declared sizes are checked: an archive that would expand beyond 2 GB, or more than 100 times its packed size once it passes 10 MB, is refused as a likely zip bomb, so a malicious file cannot freeze your device. File paths are cleaned so nothing can be written outside the folder you choose. Up to 1,000 files and 2 GB per zip.

No. The zip is read and written by code running in your browser, on your own device. Your files never reach a server, which is why large folders start instantly and why private documents stay private. The page works with your connection switched off once it has loaded.
Zip / Unzip detects password protection and sends you to Protect / Unlock ZIP, where you type the password you know and get an unlocked copy. It cannot guess or crack a password; without the password the files stay locked, which is the point of protecting them.
Up to 1,000 files and 2 GB in a new zip, and zips up to 2 GB to open. Very large jobs need a desktop browser with free memory. RAR and 7z archives are not supported; only .zip, including zips made by Windows, macOS, WinZip and 7-Zip.
