Unified Pension Scheme. Under the PFRDA UPS Regulations of March 2025, the assured payout is half the average basic pay of the last 12 months for 25 years of service, reduced in proportion for 10 to 25 years, and never below ₹10,000 a month once you have 10 years. It falls in proportion if your corpus is below the benchmark corpus, or if you take a final withdrawal of up to 60%. Dearness relief is added. At retirement you also get a lump sum of one tenth of basic pay plus DA for every six months served. A spouse receives 60% of the payout.
What is left out. Gratuity, which all three pay, OPS commutation, income tax, the enhanced family pension in early years and future rises in dearness relief are not modelled. Under UPS your individual corpus, apart from the final withdrawal, goes to the pool, so compare lump sums as well as monthly amounts. Confirm your own figures with your Head of Office before you choose.

The assured payout is half the average basic pay of the last 12 months, multiplied by months of service divided by 300, with service above 25 years counted as 25. With 191 months and an average basic pay of ₹52,894, the Gazette works it out as ₹16,838 before any corpus adjustment and dearness relief.
One tenth of the last basic pay plus dearness allowance for every completed six months of service. With 25 years of service that is 50 six-month periods, or five months' pay and DA. A separate final withdrawal of up to 60% of the corpus is optional and lowers the monthly payout in the same proportion.
No. The NPS pension depends on the corpus at retirement, which moves with markets, and on the annuity rate an insurer quotes on the day you buy. Both are inputs here. An NPS annuity also carries no dearness relief, so its buying power falls with inflation while UPS and OPS pensions rise with DR.
Under UPS, 60% of the payout the retiree was drawing, plus dearness relief. Under the Old Pension Scheme, 30% of last pay, at least ₹9,000, with higher rates in the early years that are not modelled here. Under NPS, it depends on the annuity chosen: a joint-life annuity continues to the spouse.
