Estimates only, not financial advice. What you type stays on your device. Checked against sources on 18 Oct 2026.Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana is a post office and bank account for a girl child under ten, where deposits run for 15 years and the account matures 21 years after it is opened. Enter what you can put in each year, from ₹250 to ₹1,50,000, and her age today, and this shows the maturity amount and the interest earned.
Rates and rules read from the sources listed on this page (the earliest on 18 Oct 2026); they may have changed since.
Enter what you can put in each year as the "Yearly deposit"; ₹12,000 a year is ₹1,000 a month.
Set "Her age when the account is opened"; she must be under ten.
Lower the "Interest rate" to see what a rate cut would do, since it is revised every quarter.
Read the estimated maturity value at 21 years and open "Year by year" for her age, deposit and balance each year.
Every year in between is shown too. The rate is revised quarterly, so change it and see what a lower one costs you.
The Sukanya Samriddhi calculator works out what a girl child's SSY account is worth when it matures. Enter the yearly deposit, anything from ₹250 to ₹1,50,000, and her age on the day the account is opened. You get the maturity amount, the total deposited, the interest earned, the year she turns 18, and a table of all 21 years.
Two dates decide the answer, and they are different. Deposits run for 15 years from the day the account is opened. The account matures 21 years from that same day. So after the fifteenth deposit nothing more goes in, and the balance simply earns interest for six more years. On ₹1,50,000 a year at 8.2%, those six silent years add about ₹27 lakh, which is why opening the account early matters more than depositing more later.

At 8.2% a year, ₹1,50,000 deposited by 5 April for 15 years matures to about ₹71.8 lakh after 21 years: ₹22.5 lakh deposited and roughly ₹49.3 lakh of interest. The rate is revised every quarter, so the real figure will differ from any projection made today.
A parent or legal guardian opens the account in the name of a girl child who has not yet turned ten. The scheme allows two accounts per family, with an exception for twins or triplets born in the second birth. Only one account is allowed per girl, at a post office or an authorised bank.
₹250 is the minimum in a financial year and ₹1,50,000 is the maximum, paid in one go or in instalments, in multiples of ₹50. Missing the minimum makes the account irregular until a default fee is paid for each year missed, so a small standing deposit is safer than a large irregular one.
SSY ka paisa kaise nikale: half the balance can be withdrawn at 18 for education, and the full amount at maturity, 21 years after opening. Early closure is allowed on marriage after 18, or on the account holder's death, and otherwise only in cases the scheme names. The account form and passbook are needed at the post office or bank.
Rates and rules change; check the source before you rely on a figure.
