Turn a column of lines into one comma separated line, and back again
Processed in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. Updated on 24 Oct 2026.Pasting a column of lines here returns one separated line, with no trailing separator, blank rows dropped and duplicates optionally removed. Every removal is counted in a sentence under the result, so a list that arrives with 40 rows and leaves with 37 says exactly why. Six separators, four quote styles.
Paste your list into Your list, one item per line.
Pick the Separator, and any Quotes or Wrap in brackets you need.
Turn on Remove duplicates or Remove blank lines if the list needs cleaning.
Press Copy, or Download .txt; the list stays in your browser.
Joining a list of lines into one separated line is a two-minute job in a text editor and a five-second job here, and the difference is not the time. It is the three faults the manual version leaves behind: a separator hanging off the end, the blank row a spreadsheet copy always brings with it, and the entry that appears twice because the list was pasted from two places.
This page fixes all three and tells you it did. Under the result is a sentence saying how many items went in, how many came out, and exactly what was dropped: "37 items out of 40, 2 blank lines removed, 1 duplicate removed." Nothing is ever removed quietly, because a list that comes back shorter with no explanation is worse than one that was never cleaned.
Choose the separator: comma, comma and a space, semicolon, pipe, space, tab, or anything you type yourself. Choose whether each item is quoted, with single, double or backtick quotes, and whether the whole line is wrapped in round, square or curly brackets. Those two together turn a column of order numbers into ('ORD-1041','ORD-1042','ORD-1043'), which is one paste into a SQL IN clause, or into a JavaScript array, or into a shell argument list.
The same page runs backwards. Switch the direction and a comma separated line becomes one item per line, which is what you want when somebody sends you a long line and you need it as a column again. Splitting also breaks at line ends, because a list pasted out of an email is usually a mixture of both.
Sorting is there when the order does not matter and the eye does: alphabetically up or down, or numerically, which keeps 2 before 10 where an alphabetical sort puts 10 first. Anything that is not a number sorts after everything that is, rather than being shuffled to the front.
Everything runs in your browser as you type. Nothing is sent anywhere, which matters more than usual here, because the lists people paste into a tool like this are customer emails, order numbers and account IDs.
Paste the list into the box on the left and the joined line appears on the right immediately. Choose comma, comma and space, semicolon, pipe, space or tab as the separator. No separator is left on the end, and the blank line a copy usually brings with it is dropped and counted.
Set quotes to single and the wrapper to round brackets. Each item is then quoted on its own and the whole line wrapped, giving ('A1','A2','A3') as one copy. Turn on remove duplicates as well, because a repeated value in an IN clause is harmless but usually means the source list was pasted twice.
Blank lines are dropped by default, and duplicates are dropped if you asked for that. Both are counted in the sentence under the result, which says how many items went in and how many came out. Switch off remove blank lines to keep every row exactly as pasted, including the empty ones.
Yes. Switch the direction and each value goes on its own line, which is what a spreadsheet column or a checklist needs. Splitting breaks at the chosen separator and at line ends together, so a list pasted out of an email, part on one line and part on the next, still comes out correctly.
Choose numeric sort and 2 comes before 10, which alphabetical sorting gets wrong because it compares one character at a time. Anything that is not a number is placed after all the numbers in its own alphabetical order, rather than being pushed to the front by a failed comparison.
No. The whole conversion runs in your browser as you type, and nothing is uploaded. That matters here more than on most pages, because the lists people paste into a tool like this are customer emails, order numbers, invoice references and account IDs.
List yahan paste kijiye. Comma separated line turant ban jaati hai, aur aap chunte hain ki comma chahiye, semicolon, pipe ya space. Excel formula kaise likhein yeh sochne ki zarurat nahi, khaali lines apne aap hat jaati hain aur ginti neeche dikh jaati hai.
