Kruti Dev 010 is a legacy Hindi font. It does not store Hindi letters at all: it stores ordinary Latin keys and draws Devanagari shapes on them, so a file that shows भारत in Kruti Dev really contains "Hkkjr". Remove the font, or open the file on a phone, and the Hindi turns into gibberish. Unicode stores the letters themselves, so Unicode Hindi shows correctly in any modern font, can be searched, and survives email and WhatsApp.
Where the table comes from. Every character of the Kruti Dev 010 font was drawn and read one by one to build the table, then checked against an MIT-licensed open-source converter. Sentences are tested in both directions and round-tripped, so converting to Kruti Dev and back returns the same Hindi.
For typing tests and offices. Many typists learned Hindi on the Remington layout that Kruti Dev follows, and many offices still keep letters and forms in it. Kruti Dev 010 stores Latin keys and only draws Hindi shapes on them while the font is applied. Without the font installed, भारत appears as Hkkjr. Converting to Unicode stores the real Hindi letters, which display correctly on any phone, browser or computer without a special font.
Copy the Kruti Dev keys, paste them into Word, select the text and choose Kruti Dev 010 in the font box. The Latin letters then turn into Hindi. The font must be installed on that computer; the converter produces text only and does not supply the font file.
Kruti Dev 010 is the version this converter's character table follows. Krutidev 010, Kurti Dev 10 and Kurtidev10 are the same font name spelled the way people type it, so text in that font converts here. Text typed in a different legacy Hindi font puts letters on other keys; check a line of the result against the original before converting a whole document.
No. Chanakya, DevLys, Shusha and other legacy Hindi fonts put letters on different keys, so their text would come out wrong here. Only Kruti Dev 010, and the Kruti Dev fonts that share its layout, convert correctly with this table.
