Meme Generator puts text on your own picture in the style everyone recognises: bold white capitals with a black outline, one line at the top and one at the bottom. The words appear on the picture as you type, so there is nothing to press until you save.
Text that fits. Each box is the width of the picture less a small margin, and at most a quarter of its height so the middle of the picture stays clear. The page measures your words in the font it draws with and picks the largest size at which they fit in up to four lines. A short punchline is large; a long one wraps and shrinks. A word too long for the line is broken rather than cut off.
Two styles. Meme draws the text over the picture with an outline that reads on light and dark parts alike. Caption leaves the picture untouched and adds a white band above it, and one below for a second line, with clean dark text; the bands grow with the words. That is the style of reaction posts and captioned screenshots.
