JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, TIFF, ICO, SVG and HEIC, converted on your device
Processed in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. Updated on 24 Oct 2026.Converting an image changes its format without changing the picture. JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, TIFF, ICO, SVG and HEIC are all handled, which is 10 formats in any direction. Up to 20 files of 50 MB each, re-encoded by your own browser.
Drop any image on the box or click it to choose; the page reads the file itself to tell what format it really is.
Under Convert to, keep the format it proposes for that file, or pick JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, BMP, TIFF or ICO.
Read the lines under the choices: they say what this pair loses, such as transparency, animation or detail.
Press the Convert to button, then Download. Several files arrive as one zip, and nothing is uploaded.
Convert Image reads ten formats and writes seven. It opens JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, AVIF, BMP, TIFF, ICO, SVG and HEIC, and saves as JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, BMP, TIFF or ICO. Drop up to twenty files in and each row shows the new size beside the old one as it finishes.
The file is identified by its first bytes, never by its name, so a HEIC photo renamed .jpg is still recognised as a HEIC and the page says so before converting it. What it finds is spelled out: "a TIFF image, 3 pages", "a GIF image, 12 frames", "an ICO image, 3 sizes up to 48 px". The target format is already chosen for you, either by the page you arrived on or by what people most often want that format turned into, so the only thing left to do is confirm.
What a conversion costs is stated before it runs, not after the download. JPEG has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with a colour you pick, white by default. BMP is the same. A multi-page TIFF gives you one file per page by default; an animated GIF or WebP keeps its first frame by default, with every frame available on browsers that can read them. An ICO is written as a genuine icon file holding 16, 32, 48, 64, 128 and 256 pixel versions, each stored as a PNG.
Everything runs on your device. TIFF uses a reader loaded only when a TIFF arrives; HEIC uses a decoder loaded only when a HEIC arrives; an SVG is stripped of anything that could run or fetch and then drawn in an isolated image, at a size you choose. Writing WebP and AVIF depends on the browser, and the tool disables a format it cannot write rather than quietly saving something else. Limits are 20 files per batch and 50 MB per file.
Two jobs are refused on purpose. GIF is not written, because a good GIF needs a hand-chosen 256-colour palette and a bad one looks worse than the original. Camera RAW and Photoshop PSD files are not opened, because both need decoders far too large for a browser; export a JPEG or TIFF from your camera software, or a PNG from Photoshop, and bring that here. Nothing becomes an SVG: tracing pixels into shapes is a different job with different results.
Reading works for JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, AVIF, BMP, TIFF, ICO, SVG and HEIC; writing works for JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, BMP, TIFF and ICO. That is every pair those two lists allow, about sixty of them, and each pair has its own page with the target format already chosen for you.
The page counts the pages the moment you drop the file and tells you, for example 'a TIFF image, 3 pages'. By default you get one output file per page, named scan-page-1, scan-page-2 and so on. Choose 'First page only' if you just want page one.
Frames are counted the moment the file is dropped, and the first one is kept by default, because a still is what people usually want. Chrome and Edge can read every frame, and there the choice 'All 12 frames' gives you one file per frame. Other browsers can only read the first, and the page says so rather than pretending.
Writing AVIF and WebP is done by the browser, and not every browser can. Chrome and Edge write both; Firefox and Safari often cannot write AVIF. A format this browser cannot write is disabled with a note naming the browsers that can, so nothing is silently saved in the wrong format.
Not here, and the page says so up front. Tracing pixels into shapes is a different job, done by Image to SVG on this site, and PSD files are now opened by PSD to PNG, which saves the picture and each layer. Camera RAW differs by manufacturer and needs a decoder too large for a browser; export a JPEG or TIFF first.
Never. Every file is identified from its first bytes. If the name and the bytes disagree the page says so once, in plain words, and carries on with the truth: a HEIC named .jpg is still treated as a HEIC.
Yes. Scripts, event handlers, embedded HTML, external references and entity declarations are stripped out first, and the drawing is then rendered inside an isolated image, where browsers do not run scripts and the file cannot reach the network. It is never inserted into this page. You choose the pixel size it is drawn at.
Twenty files per batch and 50 MB per file. Nothing is uploaded: the conversion runs in your browser, the TIFF and HEIC readers load only when one of those files arrives, and the converted files are built on your own device.
