Remove author, company and comment names from Word, Excel and PowerPoint files
Processed in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. Updated on 25 Oct 2026.A Word file carries more than its text: the name of whoever created it and last saved it, the company from their Office licence, a revision count, the total editing time, custom properties from templates, and a name on every comment and tracked change.
Drop .docx, .xlsx or .pptx files on the page or press Select documents.
Read the table under each file: author, last saved by, company, and comment and tracked-change names are listed.
Turn on Keep title and subject if the title is safe to keep; with it off, those are removed too.
Press Remove metadata, then Download a cleaned copy with the rest of the file left as it was.
Drop .docx, .xlsx or .pptx files here to see all of it, then download a copy with those details removed and every other part of the file left exactly as it was.
Metadata Remover shows what hidden information a photo carries and then removes it. Before anything is changed you see the list: the camera or phone model, the date and time the photo was taken, the software used, the camera's serial number when it is recorded, and the GPS location as coordinates. If a photo has a location, you get a clear warning, because anyone you send the file to can read it.
For JPG and PNG files the tool removes the metadata without re-saving the picture. It cuts out the EXIF, XMP and IPTC blocks and comments of a JPG, and the text, EXIF and time chunks of a PNG, and copies the image data byte for byte, so quality is exactly the same as the original. By default it keeps two small things: the rotation flag, so portrait photos stay upright, and the colour profile, so colours do not shift. Both can be removed too. Other formats, such as WebP and iPhone HEIC, are re-saved by the browser, which removes all metadata but is not lossless, and the tool says so.
Word, Excel and PowerPoint files (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx and their macro versions) work too. Their hidden details are different: the author and whoever last saved the file, the company and manager, the revision count and editing time, the template path (which often contains a Windows user name), custom properties, and the name and account on every comment and tracked change. The tool lists all of it, removes it, and puts "Author" where a comment or tracked change named someone, so comments stay in place. Only the few parts that held those details are rewritten; every other part of the file is copied byte for byte. The words of the document itself are not changed, so a name typed into the text stays.
The rest of the article, and all 7 questions about Metadata Remover, are on the Metadata Remover page.
Add the photo. If it has a location, the tool shows the coordinates with a warning. Press Remove metadata and download the clean copy. JPG and PNG files are cleaned without re-saving, so the picture looks exactly the same, only the hidden data is gone.
Not for JPG and PNG. The tool cuts the metadata blocks out of the file and copies the picture data unchanged. WebP, HEIC and other formats are re-saved by the browser to remove metadata, which is not lossless; the tool tells you when that happens.
Drop the .docx file. The table shows the author, last modified by, company, manager and every comment author. Press Remove metadata and download: those details are removed, comment authors become "Author", and the rest of the file is copied unchanged. Excel and PowerPoint files work the same way.
Photo se location hatao: add the picture, read the coordinates the tool shows, and press Remove metadata. JPG and PNG files are cleaned without re-saving, so the image data is copied byte for byte. Up to 20 photos at a time, each 50 MB. The rotation flag is kept by default so portraits stay upright.
