Cover words in a PDF with a white box, then type over it
Processed in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. Updated on 24 Oct 2026.White out a wrong date, an old address or a typo in a PDF the way correction fluid works on paper: a white box goes over the words, and new text can be typed on top. The words underneath are hidden on screen and in print but are still in the file, so for anything confidential use Redact PDF, which removes them. Nothing is uploaded.
Add the PDF with Select a PDF; White box is already chosen.
Click the words to cover, then drag the corner until the box hides them.
Switch to Text and type the correction on top of the white box if needed.
Press Save PDF and Download the corrected copy.
Add Text to PDF lets you write on a PDF as if it were paper: fill in a form that has no fields, add a note or a date, correct a detail, or tick the right boxes, without printing and scanning.
| Tool | What it adds |
|---|---|
| Text | A text box in Sans, Sans bold, Serif or Mono |
| White box | A white rectangle that covers what is under it |
| Tick and Cross | A check mark or a cross, sized to fit a form box |
A white box hides words on screen and in print, but they are still in the file. To remove confidential text for good, use Redact PDF.
