Enter the classes held and the classes you attended, and the page works out how many you have to attend in a row, with no misses, to reach 75% again. The page opens with Minimum attendance set to 75%, the rule most colleges and universities use.
Enter your Classes attended and Classes held so far from the attendance portal.
Add the Classes left this term so the page can tell whether 75% is still reachable.
Read Attend in a row to reach 75%, or Not possible if the remaining classes cannot lift you there.
The Attendance Percentage Calculator works out your attendance from the classes you attended and the classes held, then answers the two questions that follow: how many classes you must attend in a row to reach the minimum, and how many you can miss and still stay at or above it.
The formulas. Attendance is attended divided by held, times 100. To reach a minimum of T percent from a attended out of h held, attending x classes in a row gives (a + x) / (h + x), and the smallest whole x that reaches T is (T × h − 100 × a) / (100 − T), rounded up. At 45 out of 64 and 75%, that is (4,800 − 4,500) / 25 = 12. The classes you can miss is 100 × a / T − h, rounded down: at 60 out of 70, 80 − 70 = 10.
The rest of the term. If you know how many classes are left, enter them. The page works out how many of those you must attend to finish at or above the minimum, how many you can skip, and the best percentage you could still reach, which tells you early if a shortfall can no longer be made up.
The rest of the article, and all 6 questions about Attendance Percentage Calculator, are on the Attendance Percentage Calculator page.
Work out 75 times the classes held, minus 100 times the classes attended, divided by 25, and round up. At 45 of 64 that is (4,800 minus 4,500) divided by 25, or 12 classes in a row. After them attendance is 57 of 76, exactly 75%.
Divide 100 times the classes attended by 75, subtract the classes held, and round down. At 60 of 70 that is 80 minus 70, so 10 classes. Missing an eleventh leaves 60 of 81, which is 74.1%, below the line.
Both, if your college applies the minimum to each subject. A comfortable overall figure can hide one subject below the line. Switch to subjects, enter each one, and the page lists every subject's percentage with the classes it needs or can spare, plus the combined figure.
Enter the classes left this term. The page shows the fewest of them you must attend, how many you can skip, and the best percentage possible if you attend every one. When even that best figure is below the minimum, speak to your department about condonation early.
