Free online scientific calculator with sin, cos, tan, log, powers, roots, nCr and history
Runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere. Updated on 24 Oct 2026.A scientific calculator works out expressions with trigonometry, logarithms, powers, roots and factorials in the correct order of operations. Type or tap an expression such as sin(30)+2^3 and the answer, 8.5, appears as you type. Angles work in degrees or radians, and Ans, memory and a 20-line history are kept. Free; nothing is uploaded.
Type the expression with your keyboard or tap the keys, for example sin(30)+2^3.
Choose DEG or RAD for angles; the answer updates as you type.
Press = or Enter to keep the answer as Ans and add it to the history.
Tap a history line to reuse it, or press Copy result or Share.
The calculator follows the order of operations taught in school, from the tightest binding to the loosest: brackets and functions, then factorial and percent, then roots, then powers, then a leading minus, then nCr and nPr, then multiplication and division, then addition and subtraction. Under every answer a line shows how the expression was read, with each multiplication written out.
| You type | Read as | Answer |
|---|---|---|
| 2^3^2 | 2^(3^2), powers group from the right | 512 |
| -2^2 | −(2^2), the minus comes after the power | −4 |
| 6÷2(1+2) | (6 ÷ 2) × (1 + 2) | 9 |
| 1/2π | (1 ÷ 2) × π | 1.5708 |
| 5 nCr 2 | combinations of 2 from 5 | 10 |
Writing two items side by side multiplies them when the second one starts with a bracket, a constant, a function, Ans, M or a root sign: 2π, 3(4+1), 2sin(30), 2√3. Implicit multiplication ranks with × and ÷ and works left to right, the convention WolframAlpha uses, so 6÷2(1+2) is 9. Two bare numbers side by side, such as "2 3", are an error rather than 6.
The angle unit is set to radians. Thirty radians is about 1,719 degrees. Tap DEG and sin(30) is 0.5, or type 30° to mean degrees in either unit. Exact angles stay exact: cos(90°) is 0 and tan(90°) is undefined, not a huge number.
Factorials work for whole numbers up to 170. The percent sign divides by 100, so 200+10% is 200.1; for a 10% increase use the Percentage Calculator. Fractions are exact in the Fraction Calculator, and statistics are in the Standard Deviation Calculator. Answers show 12 significant digits. The expression is read by the page's own parser and never run as code, and nothing you type leaves your browser.
The answer is 9. Multiplication written without a sign, as in 2(1+2), ranks with ordinary multiplication and division, and operations of the same rank are done from left to right: 6 ÷ 2 is 3, and 3 × 3 is 9. To divide 6 by the whole of 2(1+2), write 6 ÷ (2(1+2)), which gives 1.
A minus sign at the start applies after the power, so -2^2 means −(2 × 2) = −4. The same convention is used in mathematics and in most calculators and programming languages, though Excel gives 4. To square negative two, put it in brackets: (-2)^2 = 4. The line under the answer shows which reading was used.
Tap DEG or RAD above the keypad. Sine, cosine and tangent read their angle in the chosen unit, and the inverse functions answer in it. The degree sign works in either mode: sin(30°) is 0.5 even in radians. A full turn is 360 degrees or 2π radians, about 6.2832.
Type 5 nCr 2 for the number of ways to choose 2 items from 5 when order does not matter (10), or 5 nPr 2 when order matters (20). The forms nCr(52,5) and nPr(10,3) also work. A poker hand of 5 cards from 52 has nCr(52,5) = 2,598,960 possibilities.
Ans holds the last answer after you press = or Enter, so pressing + next continues from it. M+ adds the current answer to the memory, M− subtracts it, MR puts M into the expression and MC clears it. The memory, Ans and the last 20 calculations stay in this browser only.
No. The text is split into numbers, operators and names, checked against a fixed list of functions and constants, and evaluated with ordinary arithmetic; nothing is passed to a JavaScript interpreter. An unknown word such as alert produces the message Unknown name instead of running anything, and nothing typed is sent to a server.
Formula only: no rates or limits are read from an official source.
