This calculator counts the vacation an employee in Colombia has earned and still has to take, and what those days are worth, from the Código Sustantivo del Trabajo in the Ministry of ICT's official legal compilation.
The days. Article 186 gives 15 consecutive working days of paid vacation after a year of service. The calculator counts the time worked the payroll way, in 30-day months and 360-day years, so each 360 days earn 15 days and every day worked adds 15 / 360 of a day. Subtract the days already taken and the rest is still owed.
The pay. Article 192 pays the vacation with the ordinary salary on the day it starts, leaving out pay for work on rest days and overtime. For a variable salary use the average of the year before. Each day is worth the monthly salary divided by 30. The transport allowance is not salary and does not count.
Money instead of rest. While the job goes on, article 189 allows up to half the vacation to be paid in money if the worker asks and both sign. When the contract ends, Law 995 of 2005 pays all the vacation not taken, in proportion to the time worked, on the last salary.
A worked example. A salary of 3,000,000 pesos from 1 February 2025 to 30 September 2026 is 600 days in the 30-day count, which earns 25 vacation days. With 15 days taken, 10 are owed, worth 10 × 100,000 = 1,000,000 pesos.
Taking them. Article 190 asks for at least 6 working days of rest every year; the rest may be accumulated for up to two years by agreement.
Leaving the job. The full final settlement, with the prima, cesantías, interest, vacation and any severance, is in the Colombia final settlement calculator.
Not included. The special 15 days per 6 months for tuberculosis and X-ray work, suspensions that do not count as time worked, and the return date, which skips Sundays and holidays.

Article 186 of the Código Sustantivo del Trabajo gives 15 consecutive working days of paid vacation for each year of service. Days are earned in proportion to the time worked, so six months of work earns 7.5 days, and the leave itself is counted in working days, not calendar days.
Multiply the days owed by the monthly ordinary salary divided by 30. Article 192 takes the salary on the day the vacation starts and leaves out overtime and pay for work on rest days; a variable salary uses the average of the previous year. Ten days on 3,000,000 pesos are 1,000,000 pesos.
Yes. Law 995 of 2005 says workers whose contract ends before they earned a full year's vacation are compensated in money in proportion to the time actually worked. Days earned in earlier years and never taken are paid too, all on the last salary, as article 189 says.
Only up to half. Article 189 lets employer and worker agree in writing, at the worker's request, to pay up to half of the vacation in money. The other half must be taken as rest, and article 190 requires at least 6 working days of rest every year.
Partly. Article 190 says at least 6 consecutive working days must be enjoyed each year and cannot be accumulated; the remaining days may be accumulated for up to two years by agreement, or four years for technical, trusted or managerial staff and foreigners working away from their families.
No. The auxilio de transporte is not salary, so vacation is valued on the ordinary salary alone. Law 1 of 1963 adds the allowance only to the base of the prestaciones sociales, the prima and the cesantías, which the Colombia Prima and Cesantías Calculator works out
