Your monthly EPS pension from pensionable wages and service, early or deferred
Estimates only, not financial advice. What you type stays on your device. Checked against sources on 18 Oct 2026.EPS pension per month equals pensionable wages times pensionable service divided by 70. Wages are the average of the last 60 months, capped at ₹25,000 for service from 17 September 2026, ₹15,000 from September 2014, or ₹6,500 before. Ten years of service are needed, 20 or more earn 2 bonus years, and the minimum is ₹1,000.

Enter your service up to 31 Aug 2014 and from 1 Sep 2014 to 16 Sep 2026, each in years and months.
Enter any service from 17 Sep 2026, when the wage ceiling rose to ₹25,000, and set the Age the pension starts, from 50 to 60.
Read the monthly pension estimate; the formula follows the EPFO scheme text listed under Sources.
The Employees' Pension Scheme, 2026, which replaced the 1995 scheme on 29 June 2026, pays a monthly pension to members of the EPF who have at least 10 years of service. This calculator applies the formula in paragraph 12 to your average pay and service, and shows the pension for a start at any age from 50 to 60. It runs in your browser and sends nothing anywhere.
With 20 years of service, all from September 2014 to September 2026, and pay above the cap, the pension at 58 is ₹15,000 × 22 ÷ 70 = ₹4,714.29 a month.
Gazette notification S.O. 5109(E) of 17 September 2026 set the EPF wage ceiling at ₹25,000 a month from that date. EPFO's FAQs say this "permits pensionable wages to be considered up to the revised statutory ceiling". Service before that date keeps the ceiling of its own period.
The higher pension on actual salary under the joint option is not covered: the scheme does not give EPFO's pro-rata method for it. Nor are service before 16 November 1995 under the 1971 scheme, disablement or family pension, or the withdrawal benefit. All service before September 2014 counts at ₹6,500, as in the 1995 scheme. Scheme text read on 18 October 2026.
The pension EPF members receive comes from the Employees' Pension Scheme: pensionable salary times pensionable service, divided by 70. In the calculator's example, 23 years of service count as 25 with the 2-year weightage, and the salary averaged across the wage ceilings is ₹13,132.84, so the pension is ₹4,690.30 a month at 58. The formula is the same for every EPS member, whoever the employer.
Monthly pension equals pensionable wages times pensionable service, divided by 70, under paragraph 12 of the Employees' Pension Scheme, 2026. Pensionable wages are the average pay of the last 60 months, capped at each period's wage ceiling: ₹15,000 to 16 September 2026, ₹25,000 from 17 September 2026. Pensionable service is your years in the scheme, rounded, plus two years if you reach 20 years and retire at 58.
Ten years of eligible service, and 9 years 6 months is enough because six months or more rounds up to a year. With less than 10 years you cannot draw a monthly pension; you can take a withdrawal benefit or keep a scheme certificate so the service joins your next job's service.
Yes, from age 50, but it is reduced by 4% for each year short of 58. Starting at 55 means 12% less, and at 50 it means 32% less, for life. The two bonus years for 20 years of service are added only when the pension starts at 58 or later, so an early start loses those too.
The scheme sets a minimum monthly pension of ₹1,000 under paragraph 12(8). The minimum is reduced for an early pension, so a member who starts at 50 on the minimum gets ₹680. A pension worked out above ₹1,000 by the formula is paid as it is.
The EPS wage ceiling was ₹6,500 a month until 31 August 2014, ₹15,000 from 1 September 2014, and is ₹25,000 from 17 September 2026 (Gazette notification S.O. 5109(E)). The scheme works the pension out pro rata for every wage ceiling period, with wages capped at the ceiling of each period. Enter the three periods separately to see the effect.
No. Members who made the joint option under paragraph 11 of the 1995 scheme to contribute on actual salary above the ceiling get a pension on the higher salary, but the scheme text does not set out how EPFO splits it pro rata. Ask EPFO for the calculation sheet on your pension order instead.
