The Invoice Generator makes an invoice, a quote (estimate) or a purchase order and saves it as a PDF. It works in twelve currencies, including the dollar, euro, pound, rupee and yen, and it runs entirely in your browser: the document, your logo and the saved draft never leave your device, and there is no account.
How the totals are worked out. Each line is quantity times rate, rounded to the cent, less its discount percentage. The subtotal adds the lines. Sales tax or VAT is then charged once on the total of the lines marked taxable, plus shipping if you choose to tax it, and rounded to the cent. The total is subtotal plus tax plus shipping, and on an invoice a deposit already paid is taken off to give the balance due. Every figure is kept in whole cents, so the lines always add up to the total printed.
The tax rate is yours to enter. US sales tax is set by the state, county and city, and some states tax services or shipping while others do not; VAT depends on the country and the product. The example uses 8.25% only as an illustration. Your state revenue department or tax authority publishes the current rate.
Three documents. A quote states a price and a valid-until date before the work. A purchase order goes from the buyer to the vendor, so your business appears as the Buyer. An invoice asks for payment by a due date. Switching type keeps the lines, so an accepted quote becomes an invoice in one tap.
The PDF. Long descriptions wrap inside their column, items continue onto further pages with the header repeated, and every page is numbered. The rupee sign is drawn as a proper ₹, not "Rs.".
What it does not do. No per-line tax rates, no compound taxes, no recurring invoices or payment links, and no exchange rates. For an Indian tax invoice with CGST, SGST, IGST and the Rule 46 particulars, use the GST Invoice Generator instead.
Enter your combined state and local sales tax rate in the Tax rate box and untick Taxable on any line that is exempt, such as labor in many states. The generator charges the rate once on the total of the taxable lines and rounds to the cent, so 8.25% on $191.25 is $15.78.
A quote, also called an estimate, tells a customer what the work will cost before it starts and is valid until a stated date. An invoice asks for payment for work done or goods delivered, with a due date. Both list the same items and totals; switch the document type to turn one into the other.
The buyer sends a purchase order to the vendor, stating what is being bought, the agreed prices and the delivery date. The vendor later sends an invoice quoting the PO number. In this generator, choosing Purchase order puts your business under Buyer and the supplier under Vendor.
No. The totals, the PDF and the logo are all handled inside your browser, and the draft is saved only in this browser's local storage so it is there when you come back. Clearing your browser data removes it. Nothing is sent to a server and no account is needed.
A seller's discount normally comes off the price before tax, so tax is charged on the reduced amount. That is how this generator works: each line's discount percentage is taken off first, and the tax is charged on what is left. A manufacturer's coupon can be treated differently in some states.
Use the GST Invoice Generator for that. A tax invoice under India's GST law needs particulars from Rule 46 of the CGST Rules, HSN or SAC codes and the CGST, SGST or IGST split by place of supply, which that tool handles. This generator is for invoices outside GST.
Formula only: no rates or limits are read from an official source.
