Create a purchase order to a vendor with items, prices, delivery date and tax, as a PDF
Estimates only, not financial advice. What you type stays on your device. Updated on 24 Oct 2026.A purchase order is the buyer’s written order to a vendor: what is being bought, at what price, and by when it must arrive. Unlike an invoice it goes from the buyer, so your business is the Buyer and the supplier is the Vendor. The PO number then appears on the vendor’s invoice, which is how the two are matched before payment.
Choose Purchase order; enter your business as Buyer and the supplier as Vendor.
Set the PO number, order date and the Deliver by date.
List the items with quantity and agreed unit price.
Add tax and shipping if the vendor charges them, then press Download PO PDF.
The Invoice Generator makes an invoice, a quote (estimate) or a purchase order and saves it as a PDF. It works in twelve currencies, including the dollar, euro, pound, rupee and yen, and it runs entirely in your browser: the document, your logo and the saved draft never leave your device, and there is no account.
Three documents. A quote states a price and a valid-until date before the work. A purchase order goes from the buyer to the vendor, so your business appears as the Buyer. An invoice asks for payment by a due date. Switching type keeps the lines, so an accepted quote becomes an invoice in one tap.
What it does not do. No per-line tax rates, no compound taxes, no recurring invoices or payment links, and no exchange rates. For an Indian tax invoice with CGST, SGST, IGST and the Rule 46 particulars, use the GST Invoice Generator instead.

Enter your combined state and local sales tax rate in the Tax rate box and untick Taxable on any line that is exempt, such as labor in many states. The generator charges the rate once on the total of the taxable lines and rounds to the cent, so 8.25% on $191.25 is $15.78.
A quote, also called an estimate, tells a customer what the work will cost before it starts and is valid until a stated date. An invoice asks for payment for work done or goods delivered, with a due date. Both list the same items and totals; switch the document type to turn one into the other.
The buyer sends a purchase order to the vendor, stating what is being bought, the agreed prices and the delivery date. The vendor later sends an invoice quoting the PO number. In this generator, choosing Purchase order puts your business under Buyer and the supplier under Vendor.
A seller's discount normally comes off the price before tax, so tax is charged on the reduced amount. That is how this generator works: each line's discount percentage is taken off first, and the tax is charged on what is left. A manufacturer's coupon can be treated differently in some states.
Formula only: no rates or limits are read from an official source.
