This calculator gives the length of the notice on a Polish umowa o pracę and the exact day it ends, under the Kodeks pracy.
How long. For a contract of indefinite or fixed term the notice depends only on how long you have worked for this employer (art. 36): 2 weeks under 6 months, 1 month from 6 months, 3 months from 3 years. Time at a previous employer counts only when the workplace was transferred to the new one. The same lengths apply whether you or the employer gives notice.
Trial contracts. A trial of up to 2 weeks has 3 working days of notice, a longer trial 1 week, and a 3-month trial 2 weeks (art. 34).
When it ends. A notice counted in weeks ends on a Saturday, and one counted in months ends on the last day of a month (art. 30 § 2[1]). In practice a weekly notice starts on the Sunday after the day it is handed over, and a monthly notice on the first day of the next month. So a 1-month notice handed over on 19 October ends on 30 November, and a 2-week notice handed over on Monday 19 October ends on Saturday 7 November. Working days are counted Monday to Saturday without public holidays.
Days to look for work. When the employer gives notice of at least 2 weeks, you get paid days off to look for a new job (art. 37): 2 working days in a 2-week or 1-month notice, 3 days in a 3-month notice.
Shortened notice. When the employer dismisses for reasons that do not concern you, such as liquidation or restructuring, it may shorten a 3-month notice to 1 month and pay compensation for the other 2 months (art. 36[1]). Both sides can also agree an earlier end once notice is given.
What it does not do. It does not check whether the dismissal is lawful or protected (pregnancy, pre-retirement age, union roles), and it counts tenure to the day the notice is handed over; when 6 months or 3 years falls inside the notice, the page warns you. The Poland Severance Pay Calculator works out the odprawa after a dismissal.

On a contract of indefinite or fixed term, 2 weeks when you have worked for the employer less than 6 months, 1 month from 6 months and 3 months from 3 years. A trial contract has 3 working days, 1 week or 2 weeks, depending on the length of the trial.
On the last day of a calendar month. The notice starts on the first day of the month after the one in which it was handed over, so a 1-month notice given on 19 October 2026 runs from 1 November and ends on 30 November 2026.
On a Saturday. A notice counted in weeks starts on the Sunday after the day it is handed over and ends on the Saturday two weeks later: notice given on Monday 19 October 2026 ends on Saturday 7 November 2026.
Yes, when the employer gives notice of at least 2 weeks. You keep your pay for 2 working days off during a 2-week or 1-month notice, and 3 working days during a 3-month notice, also when the employer shortens it to 1 month.
Only when the dismissal is for reasons not concerning you, such as bankruptcy, liquidation or job cuts. The employer may then end the contract after 1 month and must pay compensation equal to your pay for the remaining 2 months, which also count as employment time.
Only when your job moved to a new employer with the workplace (art. 23[1] of the Kodeks pracy) or the new employer is the legal successor. Otherwise the notice depends only on the time worked for the employer you are leaving.
