This calculator estimates the prestación contributiva por desempleo, the "paro" paid by SEPE, from the General Social Security Law and SEPE's 2026 amounts.
The base reguladora. The average unemployment contribution base of your last 180 days of work. With a steady salary it is your yearly pay divided by 12, extra payments included, up to the maximum base of 5,101.20 euros a month; per day, a thirtieth of that.
The amount. 70% of the base reguladora for the first 180 days and 60% from day 181, paid in 30-day months.
Minimum and maximum. The law sets them as a percentage of the IPREM (600 euros in 2026) increased by a sixth: at least 560 euros a month without children and 749 with children; at most 1,225 euros without children, 1,400 with one and 1,575 with two or more.
Duration. From 360 to 539 days contributed in the last six years you get 120 days of benefit, and 60 more days for every further 180 contributed, up to 720 days from 2,160 days.
What is deducted. SEPE pays the employer's contributions and deducts the worker's share, 4.85% of the base reguladora in 2026. IRPF may also be withheld.
A worked example. 24,000 euros a year and four years of work (1,460 days), no children: base 2,000 euros, 70% would be 1,400.07 euros but the cap is 1,225; from day 181, 1,200.06 euros; 480 days in all, 17,798.60 euros net of Social Security.
Not included. IRPF withholding, part-time work, varying bases, subsidies and the single payment. For your payslip before, see the Spain Payslip Calculator.

SEPE pays 70% of your base reguladora for the first 180 days and 60% afterwards. The base reguladora is the average contribution base of your last 180 days, so a steady 24,000 euro salary gives 2,000 euros a month: 1,400 euros at 70%, capped at 1,225 euros without children, then 1,200.06 euros.
With the IPREM at 600 euros a month, the minimum is 560 euros without children and 749 euros with at least one child. The maximum is 1,225 euros without children, 1,400 euros with one child and 1,575 euros with two or more. All are monthly amounts for full-time work.
Duration depends on the days contributed for unemployment in the last six years. From 360 to 539 days you get 120 days of benefit; every further 180 days adds 60 days, up to the maximum of 720 days, two years, from 2,160 days contributed. Contributions already used for a previous benefit do not count again.
The law applies 70% of the base reguladora during the first 180 days and 60% from day 181. On a base of 2,000 euros a month that is a fall from 1,400.07 to 1,200.06 euros, unless the minimum or maximum for your family applies to both periods, in which case the amount does not change.
SEPE pays the employer part of your Social Security contributions and deducts the worker's share from the benefit, which SEPE lists as 4.85% in 2026, applied to the base reguladora. IRPF can also be withheld depending on the yearly amount. On a 2,000 euro base the Social Security deduction is about 97 euros a month.
At least 360 days of unemployment contributions in the six years before becoming unemployed, not used for an earlier benefit. Below that, SEPE's subsidies for short contributions may apply instead, which are paid as a percentage of the IPREM and are not calculated here. The loss of the job must also be involuntary.
