This calculator works out the paid leave the Bundesurlaubsgesetz (BUrlG) gives for one calendar year, for any number of working days a week, and for jobs that start or end during the year.
The minimum (§ 3). The law gives at least 24 Werktage a year. Werktage are all days except Sundays and public holidays, so the law counts a six-day week. For a week of fewer days the minimum shrinks in proportion: 20 days for five days a week, 16 for four, 12 for three. A contract may give more; type its figure and the page uses the higher one.
Payout (§§ 7, 11). Leave that can no longer be taken because the job ends is paid out as Urlaubsabgeltung. Holiday pay follows the average earnings of the last 13 weeks; the page uses three months' gross as the 13 weeks.

The Bundesurlaubsgesetz gives at least 24 Werktage a year, counted on a six-day week. For a five-day week that is 20 working days, for four days 16 and for three days 12. A contract or collective agreement may give more days.
The full annual leave is earned after six months in the job. When the six months end after 31 December, you get one twelfth for each full month instead: starting on 1 August 2026 gives 5 full months, so 8.33 days on a five-day week.
A fraction of half a day or more is rounded up to a full day under § 5 (2) BUrlG, so 8.75 days become 9. A smaller fraction, such as the 0.33 in 8.33 days, is not rounded down to nothing; the law leaves it as it is.
Urlaubsabgeltung is the payout for leave that can no longer be taken because the job ends, under § 7 (4) BUrlG. Each remaining day is paid at the average earnings of the last 13 weeks, leaving out the extra pay for overtime.
