Turn a contacts spreadsheet from Excel, Google or Outlook into one vCard file for a phone
Processed in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. Checked against sources on 17 Oct 2026.CSV to VCF Converter reads a contacts sheet (.csv, .tsv or .xlsx, up to 50 MB and 100,000 rows) in your browser, recognises the name, phone, email, company, address and birthday columns from their headers, and writes one vCard file that Android, iPhone, Google Contacts and Outlook import. Nothing is uploaded.
Press Select a contacts sheet and pick the .csv or .xlsx file; it is read on your device.
Check the columns: name, phone and email are recognised from the headers, and any can be changed.
Press Download to save one .vcf file with every contact.
Open the .vcf on the phone, or import it in Google Contacts, iCloud or Outlook.
Phones import contacts from a .vcf file, not from a spreadsheet. This page turns the sheet into that file: one vCard per row, all in one download.
Columns found for you. The headers decide what each column is, in the spellings the big exporters use:
| Sheet header | Becomes |
|---|---|
| Name, First Name, Last Name, Name Prefix | FN and N (the contact's name) |
| Phone, Mobile Phone, Home Phone, Business Fax | TEL, typed Mobile, Home, Work or Fax |
| Email, E-mail Address, E-mail 1 - Value | |
| Company, Job Title, Department | ORG and TITLE |
| Street, City, State, Postal Code, Country | ADR, home and work kept apart |
| Birthday, Web Page, Notes | BDAY, URL, NOTE |
Google Contacts' "Phone 1 - Label" columns type the number beside them, and its "555-0100 ::: 555-0101" cells become two numbers. Any column can be changed or left out before saving.
Written to the standard. Commas, semicolons, backslashes and line breaks are escaped as RFC 6350 requires, and lines longer than 75 bytes are folded without splitting a character, so accented, Arabic, Hindi and Chinese names import intact. Birthdays in 12/05/1990, 1990-05-12 or "12 May 1990" become vCard dates; you say whether 01/07 means 1 July or 7 January.
Which version. vCard 3.0 is the default because every phone and service still reads it; 4.0 is one tap away.
Tested by reading 300 generated contacts and real export layouts back with a separate vCard parser. Rows with no name, phone or email are counted and left out. Nothing is uploaded.
Select the .csv or .xlsx file on CSV to VCF Converter. The name, phone and email columns are recognised from the headers and a preview of the first contacts appears. Press Download and one .vcf file saves with every contact, ready to open on a phone or import into Google Contacts.
Copy the .vcf to the phone, open the Contacts app, then Fix and manage, then Import from file, and pick it. Opening the file from the Downloads folder also offers Contacts. Every contact in the file is added in one go, with its numbers, emails and addresses.
Email or AirDrop the .vcf to the iPhone and tap it, then Add All Contacts. Another way is iCloud.com, Contacts, the plus button, Import Contact, and the .vcf file. Both read vCard 3.0, the version this page writes by default.
Every column has a menu under its header showing what it will become, such as Phone, Email, Company or Leave out. Change any of them and the preview updates. Headers in Google Contacts and Outlook exports, and plain ones such as Name, Mobile and Email, are recognised automatically.
Yes. Each phone column becomes its own number, typed Mobile, Home, Work or Fax from its header, and a cell holding several numbers separated by ::: (as Google Contacts writes them) is split. Duplicate numbers in a row are written once.
No. The sheet is read by your own browser and the vCard file is written on your device. Names, numbers and addresses of the people in your list never reach a server, and nothing remains once the tab is closed.
Rates and rules change; check the source before you rely on a figure.
