This typing test measures speed the way Indian government exams state it. A word is five key depressions, so 35 words a minute equals 10,500 key depressions an hour (KDPH), the English mark in the SSC CHSL typing test; the Hindi mark is 30 words a minute, or 9,000 KDPH. Every result is set against the mark for the language you chose.
English or Hindi. Hindi is typed in Devanagari with whatever keyboard your device has: InScript, a Remington layout through the Windows Hindi keyboard, or an Indic keyboard on a phone. Each character is counted as one key, so a conjunct such as क्ष, made of three characters, counts as three.
Durations. One minute is a quick check. Ten minutes matches the length of the SSC test and shows whether your speed holds up when you tire. The passages are written for this page and join together, so the text cannot run out even at 150 words a minute.

The SSC CHSL typing test asks for 35 words a minute in English or 30 words a minute in Hindi. The notices also state these as 10,500 and 9,000 key depressions an hour, because a word is counted as five key depressions. The test lasts 10 minutes, which the 10-minute option on this page matches.
Switch your device to a Hindi keyboard and choose Hindi above the passage. On Windows, add Hindi (InScript or Remington) under Language settings and switch with Windows+Space. On a phone, Gboard or any Indic keyboard works. Mangal and other Unicode fonts give the same characters, so the scoring is identical.
KDPH means key depressions per hour: the number of keys pressed correctly, scaled to an hour. Government typing tests often state their marks this way. Five key depressions make one word, so KDPH divided by 300 gives words a minute: 10,500 KDPH is 35 wpm and 9,000 KDPH is 30 wpm.
For government exams, 35 wpm in English and 30 wpm in Hindi is the pass mark. For office work, 40 wpm with 95% accuracy is comfortable. A beginner types 15 to 25 wpm. Accuracy matters more than speed at first, because every corrected mistake costs several keystrokes.
