Read a QR code or barcode from a photo, a screenshot or your camera, and see where it goes
Processed in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. Updated on 25 Oct 2026.A QR code scanner reads the pattern back into text. Drop a photo or a screenshot, or use the camera, and 13 formats are read here in your browser: QR, EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E, Code 128, Code 39, ITF, Codabar, Data Matrix, PDF417, Aztec and GS1 DataBar. A web address is shown as text, never as a link.
Press Scan with the camera and hold the code steady, or press Choose an image to read a photo or screenshot.
You can also paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V; the image is read on your device.
Read the decoded text and any Danger or Careful notes before you visit an address.
Press Copy text, Copy the address or Copy everything to put the result on the clipboard.
Drop a photograph, paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V, or point the camera at a code. What comes back is the text inside it, plus an explanation of what that text is: a web address, a WiFi login, a contact card, a payment request, an authenticator secret, a product number or just words.
Thirteen formats are read. QR is the one most people mean, and alongside it: EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A and UPC-E from shop shelves, Code 128 and Code 39 from warehouse and asset labels, ITF from cartons, Codabar from libraries and blood banks, Data Matrix from parts and medicine packs, PDF417 from driving licences and boarding passes, Aztec from train tickets, and GS1 DataBar from fresh produce. A product number has its check digit recalculated, so a misread shows as a mismatch rather than as a plausible wrong product.
A web address found inside a code is printed as text and is never turned into a link. That is the whole point of the page. A QR code is the only interface in ordinary use where somebody commits to a destination they cannot read, and a sticker placed over the real code on a parking meter, a restaurant table or a letter is now an everyday kind of fraud. So the things that matter are named first: a hostname written in Punycode and the characters it will actually display as, a familiar name placed in front of an @, a link shortener hiding the destination, plain http instead of https, a bare IP address, an unusual port. A UPI payment request says out loud that scanning can only send money and never receive it, which is the commonest payment scam in India.
Two decoders run over the image, at up to three sizes, because a photograph of a code is usually far larger than it needs to be and a screenshot of one can be forty pixels across. Both are permissively licensed and both run in the page: the image is never uploaded, and neither is any frame from the camera.
Drop the picture onto the page, choose it with the button, or press Ctrl+V to paste a screenshot straight from the clipboard. A code that arrived in an email or a PDF cannot be scanned with a camera, because the code is already on the screen you would be holding.
Only when the site's security headers allow it. This site currently sends a Permissions-Policy that switches the camera off for every page, so the button is hidden and the reason is shown in its place. Photographing the code with any camera and dropping the picture here works identically.
Deliberately, because a QR code is a destination nobody can read before committing to it. Stickers placed over real codes on parking meters, restaurant tables and letters are an ordinary kind of fraud now, so the address is printed as text with anything suspicious about it named.
No. The decoding runs in your browser, on your own device, with no network request. Camera frames are read and discarded in memory and never recorded. That matters most for a WiFi code, because the password is inside the pattern in plain text.
Thirteen: QR, EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E, Code 128, Code 39, Code 93, ITF, Codabar, Data Matrix, PDF417, Aztec and GS1 DataBar. For a retail barcode the check digit is recalculated too, so a misread shows up rather than being handed back as a plausible product number.
Photo ya screenshot ko is page par drop karein, or press Ctrl+V to paste it. Yeh kaise kaam karta hai: the picture is decoded by JavaScript in your own browser and the text inside appears at once, with the destination shown as plain text rather than as a tappable link.
Usually the framing. Crop to the code with a little blank space around it, photograph it straight on rather than at an angle, and light it evenly. A one-dimensional barcode also needs the blank margin at each end; cropped tight against the bars, no scanner can start.
