Open a Photoshop PSD without Photoshop: save it as PNG or JPG, or export any layer
Processed in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. Checked against sources on 22 Oct 2026.PSD to PNG opens a Photoshop PSD or PSB file in your browser and saves the flattened picture as a PNG with transparency or as a JPG. It lists every layer and group, and saves any layer as its own PNG. Files up to 500 MB and 100 million pixels; nothing is uploaded.
Press Select a PSD file, or drop a .psd or .psb file; it is read on your device.
The flattened picture appears with the size, colour mode and the list of layers.
Choose PNG to keep transparency, or JPG for a smaller file.
Press Download, or save a single layer as its own PNG from the list.
A PSD keeps every layer, but it also stores a finished, flattened copy of the picture for other programs to show. This page reads that copy, so the PNG looks exactly as the document did in Photoshop when it was saved, with its effects, blend modes and fonts already applied.
What is read.
| In the file | What you get |
|---|---|
| The flattened picture | PNG with transparency, or JPG on white |
| Layers and groups | A list, top first: size, opacity, hidden or not |
| A layer with pixels | Its own PNG, at its own size |
| 16-bit and 32-bit colour | Converted to 8-bit for PNG and JPG |
| PSB large documents | Read the same way |
When the picture is rebuilt. A file saved with "Maximize compatibility" turned off has no flattened copy. The page then stacks the visible layers itself with normal blending and their opacity, and says what it could not reproduce, such as a Multiply layer, a drop shadow or a mask. For an exact copy, open the file in Photoshop, tick Maximize compatibility and save it again.
What is refused, and why. CMYK files are made for print, and their colours cannot be turned into screen colours correctly without the printer's profile; Lab, Duotone and Multichannel files likewise. Each is refused with the menu path to fix it: Image > Mode > RGB Color. A document over 100 million pixels needs more memory than a browser tab can count on.
Layer files. Each layer is saved with its pixels as drawn, at full opacity, named after the PSD, its position and the layer name, for example poster-04-Logo.png. All layers can be saved together in one zip.
The file is read by your own browser with the open-source ag-psd reader and never uploaded.
Drop the .psd on this page. The flattened picture appears with its size, colour mode and layer list, read by your browser. Press Download to save it as a PNG or a JPG that any phone, computer or document can open. No account, no install and no upload.
Yes, when the file was saved with Maximize compatibility, which is Photoshop's default. That option stores a finished copy of the picture with effects and fonts applied, and that copy is what you get. Without it, the page rebuilds the picture from the layers and names anything it could not reproduce.
Yes. Every layer with pixels has a PNG button in the list, and All layers saves them together in one zip. Each file is the layer at its own size with transparency, named after the PSD, its position in the stack and the layer name.
CMYK colours describe ink on paper, and turning them into screen colours correctly needs the printer's colour profile; a guess gives dull or shifted colours. The page refuses rather than guessing. In Photoshop choose Image > Mode > RGB Color, save a copy, and drop that one here.
Yes. PSB, Photoshop's large document format, is read like a PSD, and 16-bit and 32-bit colour is converted to 8-bit for the PNG or JPG. The limit is 500 MB per file and 100 million pixels, about 10,000 by 10,000, which is what a browser tab can safely hold.
No. The file is read by your own browser with the open-source ag-psd reader, and the PNG, JPG and layer files are made on your device. Unreleased designs and client work never reach a server, and nothing remains once you close the tab.
Rates and rules change; check the source before you rely on a figure.
