Choose a monthly salary or an hourly rate and type the amount, gross.
Pick the year and the month the overtime was worked.
Enter the overtime hours at 50% (ordinary days) and at 100% (nights, Sundays, holidays, the weekly norm).
Read the hourly rate, the normal pay for the hours, each supplement and the total.
Work beyond the daily 8 hours or the average 40-hour week is overtime under article 151 of the Kodeks pracy, and article 151¹ sets what it pays. This page works out the amount for one month, each step shown.
Two parts. Every overtime hour is paid at the normal hourly rate, and a supplement comes on top: 100% for hours at night, on Sundays and holidays that are not working days, on a day off given for Sunday or holiday work, and for hours above the weekly average; 50% for every other overtime hour.
The hourly rate. For an hourly worker it is the contract rate. For a monthly salary the page divides the salary by the month's working hours under article 130: 8 hours for every Monday to Friday, less 8 for each holiday that does not fall on a Sunday. October 2026 has 176 hours and August 160, so the same overtime is worth more in a short month.
The base. The supplement is worked on the personal grade rate in the contract. When the contract sets none, it is 60% of pay.
Time off instead. At the employee's request the employer can give equal time off, or one and a half times as much without a request; then no supplement is due.
The limits. At most 150 overtime hours a year for the employer's needs, unless a collective agreement or the contract says otherwise, and never more than 48 hours a week on average.
Not included. The night-work supplement, part-time thresholds, settlement periods longer than a month, and tax and ZUS. An estimate from the law, not legal advice.

Divide the monthly salary by the working hours of that month to get the hourly rate, pay that rate for each overtime hour, and add the supplement: half the rate on an ordinary day, the full rate at night or on a holiday. On 6,000 zł in October 2026, with 176 hours, one hour is 34.09 zł.
The Kodeks pracy gives 100% for overtime at night, on Sundays and holidays that are not your working days, on a day off given in exchange for Sunday or holiday work, and for hours above the average 40-hour week in the settlement period. Every other overtime hour earns 50%.
Each month has 8 hours for every Monday to Friday, less 8 for each holiday that does not fall on a Sunday. October 2026 has 176 hours, August 160 because 15 August is a Saturday, and the whole of 2026 has 2,008 hours over 251 working days.
Yes. At the employee's written request the employer can give the same number of hours off; without a request, one and a half hours off for each overtime hour, within the settlement period. In both cases no supplement is paid, and the monthly salary cannot fall.
When the pay terms do not name a personal grade rate, hourly or monthly, the supplement is worked out on 60% of pay. The normal pay for the overtime hours still uses the full hourly rate. On 6,000 zł in October 2026 that lowers the example from 784.09 zł to 661.36 zł.
Overtime for the employer's particular needs is capped at 150 hours a calendar year per employee, unless a collective agreement, work regulations or the contract set another limit. Rescue work and fixing a breakdown do not count towards the cap. The average week, overtime included, cannot pass 48 hours.
