This calculator works out the notice period and the notice period allowance (notice pay in lieu) under Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021, the UAE Labour Law, for private-sector employees.
After probation. Either side may end the contract for a legitimate reason with written notice. The notice is the period agreed in the contract, not less than 30 days and not more than 90. The contract continues through it, and the worker is paid the full wage at the last rate. The calculator raises a shorter contract figure to 30 days and cuts a longer one to 90, and says so.
Notice pay. The party that does not keep the notice pays the other a notice period allowance equal to the worker's wage for the whole notice or the part left, even if no harm was done. A month counts as 30 days, so a day is the monthly wage ÷ 30. On AED 12,000 a month, 20 days not worked cost AED 8,000.
During probation. The employer must give at least 14 days. A worker who moves to another UAE employer gives at least one month, and a foreign worker who leaves the UAE gives at least 14 days. Whoever skips the notice pays the wage for it.
Job-search days. When the employer gives notice, the worker may take one unpaid working day a week to look for a new job, after telling the employer three days ahead. A 30-day notice allows four such days.
A worked example. An employer gives 30 days' notice on 1 October 2026; the notice ends on 31 October. If the employer lets the worker go at once, it owes 30 × AED 400 = AED 12,000 on a wage of AED 12,000.
Not included. Piece-rate wages, agreements to waive or shorten the notice, and the end-of-service gratuity, leave and other final dues.

Article 43 of Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 lets either side end the contract with written notice for the period agreed in the contract, which must be at least 30 days and at most 90 days. The worker keeps working, and is paid the full wage, until the notice ends.
The party that does not respect the notice pays the other the worker's wage for the whole notice or the part left, at the last wage. Divide the monthly wage by 30 and multiply by the days not worked: 20 days on AED 12,000 a month come to AED 8,000.
Article 9 asks the employer for at least 14 days' written notice to end a contract in probation. A worker moving to another employer in the UAE gives at least one month, and a foreign worker leaving the country gives at least 14 days. Skipping it costs the wage for that notice.
Yes, apart from the cases in Article 45 where the worker may quit without notice. A worker who leaves without working the notice owes the employer a notice period allowance equal to the wage for the days not worked, even if the employer suffered no harm.
When the employer ends the contract, Article 43 lets the worker be absent for one working day a week of the notice, without pay, to look for a new job. The worker picks the day and tells the employer at least 3 days before, so a 30-day notice gives four such days.
Wages paid by the piece, which use an average daily wage, agreements that waive or shorten the notice, and the other final dues such as the end-of-service gratuity and unused leave are not calculated here. The result is an estimate, not legal advice.
