NTA uploads at 10-200 KB for the photograph and 10-100 KB for the signature
Processed in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. Updated on 25 Oct 2026.Both NTA bulletins give a file size and no pixel size, so the dimensions here are yours to choose and the page says so rather than inventing one. What they do specify is the framing: eighty per cent of the image has to be the face, ears included and no mask, against a white background. NEET also wants finger and thumb impressions, which JEE does not.
NEET UG is already chosen; pick Photograph, Signature or Finger and thumb impressions.
Choose JEE Main under Exam instead for a JEE form, which asks for a photograph and signature only.
Add a photo where the face fills about 80% of the frame on a white background, then set the Width and Height you want.
Press Make the file and Download the JPEG, which lands inside 10 KB to 200 KB for the photograph.
An Indian application portal checks two things and rejects the upload if either is wrong: the pixel dimensions, and the file size in kilobytes. Ordinary tools solve one and break the other. A resizer gets 200 by 230 exactly right and hands back 180 KB. A compressor gets to 40 KB by scaling the picture down, which is the one move that is not available here, because the portal is measuring the pixels.
This page fixes the dimensions first and never touches them again. Only JPEG quality moves, searched for the highest setting that still lands inside the band. Everything happens in your browser: the photograph and signature never leave the device, which matters more here than on most pages, since these are identity documents.
Every portal states a band, not a ceiling. IBPS wants a signature between 10 KB and 20 KB, and a clean black-on-white signature at 140 by 60 pixels encodes to about 4 KB at any quality a browser will produce. There is nothing in the image to spend bytes on, so no slider reaches 10 KB, and the portal refuses the file for being too small.

IBPS and SBI both ask for a photograph of 200 by 230 pixels weighing 20 to 50 KB, and a signature of 140 by 60 pixels weighing 10 to 20 KB, both JPEG. A left thumb impression at 240 by 240 and a hand-written declaration at 800 by 400 are also required.
No. SSC now captures the photograph through your camera while the application is open, and the notice states plainly that a candidate is not required to have a pre-existing photograph. Photographing a printed photo is a ground for rejection. Only the signature is still uploaded, at 10 to 20 KB.
General compressors reach a target size by scaling the picture down, since fewer pixels means fewer bytes. An exam portal checks the dimensions, so a 200 by 230 requirement met at 160 by 184 is refused. This page holds the dimensions fixed and moves only JPEG quality, which is the only lever left.
A dark or detailed photograph at a small pixel size sometimes stays above the ceiling even at low quality, and the dimensions may not be reduced. The page says so rather than handing back a file that will be rejected, and the two things that genuinely help are a plainer background and a tighter crop before uploading.
