Pull the writing out of a PNG screenshot without retyping it
Processed in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. Updated on 24 Oct 2026.Screenshots are almost always PNG, and a screenshot of an error message, a receipt or a chat is the commonest thing anyone needs as text. Drop it here and the writing comes back as characters you can copy, correct and paste, instead of being retyped by hand from the picture on your screen.
Press Select pictures and choose the PNG screenshot.
Choose the Language of the text in the picture.
Read the words in the Text pane and check the Read clearly or Worth checking note.
Press Copy text to paste it anywhere.
Image to Text reads the words inside a picture and gives them back as text you can select, copy, correct and search. It takes JPG, PNG, WebP, BMP, GIF and TIFF, up to ten pictures at a time, and it works on a phone as well as on a computer.
The reading happens on your own device. Tesseract, the recognition engine, is downloaded once as WebAssembly and then runs inside your browser, so the picture is never sent anywhere and never reaches a server of ours. That matters more here than on most tools: the things people photograph in order to copy the text tend to be receipts, letters, identity documents and bank statements. The first use of the tool downloads roughly four megabytes of engine and language data, which the browser then keeps; afterwards it starts immediately, and it keeps working with no connection at all.
English and Hindi are both supported, separately or together. Devanagari needs its own recognition data, which most free converters never load, so a Hindi page usually comes back as nothing; here it is shipped with the tool, and the combined setting reads a document that mixes the two without making you choose.
The rest of the article, and all 6 questions about Image to Text, are on the Image to Text page.
Add the picture, or drop it onto the page, and the words are read straight away on your own device. Choose English, Hindi or both first if the picture is not in English. When the text appears, press Copy text, or download it as a .txt file named after the picture.
Photo se text kaise nikale, in three steps: add the photograph, pick the language, and copy the text that appears. The whole thing happens inside your browser, so nothing is uploaded. For a Hindi page choose Hindi, or choose English and Hindi when the document mixes both.
Recognition depends almost entirely on the picture. A page that fills the frame, sits straight and is lit evenly reads well; one photographed at an angle, in shadow or with glare may read poorly or not at all. Handwriting, unusual fonts and very small text are the hardest cases, so retaking the photograph usually helps more than anything else.
JPG, PNG, WebP, BMP, GIF and TIFF are accepted, up to twenty megabytes each and ten pictures at once. Larger pictures are not better: what matters is that the writing is sharp and reasonably large in the frame, not that the file itself is big.
