Get the network name and password out of a WiFi QR code, as text you can read
Processed in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. Updated on 25 Oct 2026.A WiFi QR code carries the network name and the password inside the pattern itself, in plain text. A phone hides that and just joins; a laptop usually cannot join from a photograph at all. Upload the picture on the cafe table or the back of the router and both are shown as characters you can type in. Nothing is uploaded, which matters more than usual when the thing being read is a password.
Take a photo of the WiFi QR code on the router, the table card or the wall.
Press Choose an image and pick the photo, or drop it onto the page.
Read the Network name, Security and Password fields shown as plain text.
Press Copy text, or type the password into your laptop; nothing is uploaded.
Drop a photograph, paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V, or point the camera at a code. What comes back is the text inside it, plus an explanation of what that text is: a web address, a WiFi login, a contact card, a payment request, an authenticator secret, a product number or just words.
Thirteen formats are read. QR is the one most people mean, and alongside it: EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A and UPC-E from shop shelves, Code 128 and Code 39 from warehouse and asset labels, ITF from cartons, Codabar from libraries and blood banks, Data Matrix from parts and medicine packs, PDF417 from driving licences and boarding passes, Aztec from train tickets, and GS1 DataBar from fresh produce. A product number has its check digit recalculated, so a misread shows as a mismatch rather than as a plausible wrong product.
A web address found inside a code is printed as text and is never turned into a link. That is the whole point of the page. A QR code is the only interface in ordinary use where somebody commits to a destination they cannot read, and a sticker placed over the real code on a parking meter, a restaurant table or a letter is now an everyday kind of fraud. So the things that matter are named first: a hostname written in Punycode and the characters it will actually display as, a familiar name placed in front of an @, a link shortener hiding the destination, plain http instead of https, a bare IP address, an unusual port. A UPI payment request says out loud that scanning can only send money and never receive it, which is the commonest payment scam in India.

Deliberately, because a QR code is a destination nobody can read before committing to it. Stickers placed over real codes on parking meters, restaurant tables and letters are an ordinary kind of fraud now, so the address is printed as text with anything suspicious about it named.
No. The decoding runs in your browser, on your own device, with no network request. Camera frames are read and discarded in memory and never recorded. That matters most for a WiFi code, because the password is inside the pattern in plain text.
Thirteen: QR, EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E, Code 128, Code 39, Code 93, ITF, Codabar, Data Matrix, PDF417, Aztec and GS1 DataBar. For a retail barcode the check digit is recalculated too, so a misread shows up rather than being handed back as a plausible product number.
Photo ya screenshot ko is page par drop karein, or press Ctrl+V to paste it. Yeh kaise kaam karta hai: the picture is decoded by JavaScript in your own browser and the text inside appears at once, with the destination shown as plain text rather than as a tappable link.
