Cut, join and put music under video on one timeline, without losing quality
Processed in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. Updated on 24 Oct 2026.Drop your clips, cut and reorder them on one timeline, drag a song or voice-over into place, and save. Cuts on a keyframe copy the frames untouched; a cut mid-scene re-encodes only the first second or so, and the page says exactly how many seconds before you save. No watermark, no upload, 4K and 8K included.
Press Choose videos and pick one or more MP4, MOV or M4V clips of the same picture size.
Click the timeline to place the playhead, press Split here, then Delete or Keep only this; Move earlier and Move later reorder a piece.
Press + Add music or a voice-over and drag the audio along its lane to line it up.
Press Save the video; untouched frames are copied, and only the second or so after a mid-scene cut is re-encoded.
The Video Workbench is for the edit most videos need: some clips, a few cuts, the right order, and music or a voice-over underneath. It is not a general editor - there are no titles, effects, transitions or picture-in-picture - and in exchange it keeps your picture exactly as it was.
One timeline. Drop the clips and they line up in order. Click to place the playhead and press Split to cut there; drag across the timeline to select a stretch and Delete it, or Keep only that; pick a piece to move it earlier or later. Undo steps back through the last fifty edits. Play runs the edit as it stands.
Music and voice-overs. Add one audio file and drag it along its lane until the beat or the first word lands where you want it, or type the start time exactly. Set its volume against the clips' own sound - turn the clips down to zero to replace their sound completely - and add a fade at the end. It can repeat if it is shorter than the video.
Why the quality stays. A cut that falls on a keyframe copies the compressed frames as they are. A cut in the middle of a scene cannot, because the frames after it depend on the ones before; so only the frames from the cut to the next keyframe - usually one to four seconds - are encoded again, at a high bitrate, and everything after is copied. Before you save, the page says how many pieces are copied and how many seconds, in all, are re-encoded. The sound is mixed and encoded once, at 256 kbps.
Limits worth knowing. Clips on one timeline must share a picture size; clips of different sizes can be joined first with Join Videos, which fits them. Cuts mid-scene need H.264, the codec nearly every phone and AI video tool uses; other codecs cut at the keyframe before, and the page tells you where.
Nothing is uploaded. In Chrome and Edge the finished video is written straight to disk as it is made, so even an 8K edit needs no extra memory.
Drop your clips on this page, cut and arrange them on the timeline, add music if you like, and press Save. The video is made in your browser and saved on your device, with no watermark, no account and no upload of any kind.
Not where it can be avoided. A cut on a keyframe copies the frames exactly as they are; a cut in the middle of a scene re-encodes only the second or so up to the next keyframe. The page shows how many seconds in all are re-encoded before you save.
Add the audio file, then drag it left or right along its lane until the beat or the first word lands where you want, and press Play to check. For an exact position, type the start time in seconds. A negative time skips the start of the audio.
Yes. Set Clips' own sound to 0% and the added audio replaces it completely. Anywhere between 0 and 100% keeps the clips' sound under the added audio, which suits a voice with background music.
The Workbench is deliberately not a general editor. Titles, effects and transitions redraw every frame, which means re-encoding the whole video and losing the one thing this tool keeps: the original picture. It does cutting, joining and sound, and does them without loss.
Yes. Copying frames does not depend on resolution, and in Chrome and Edge the result is written straight to disk as it is made. A cut mid-scene encodes a second or two, which on some laptops is slower at 8K but still works.
