This calculator works out the adicional noturno of a worker in Brazil for one month: which part of a shift is night work, how many night hours it pays, the premium, and its reflection on the paid weekly rest.
In town. The CLT (art. 73) defines night as 22:00 to 05:00 and pays it at least 20% above the day hour. Each night hour counts as 52 minutes and 30 seconds, so the 7 clock hours of a full night pay 8 hours. In a mixed shift only the night part gets the premium.
Past 05:00. When a shift covers the whole night and carries on after 05:00, the extension follows the same rules (art. 73 § 5º): the Tribunal Superior do Trabalho pays the premium on those hours too. A 19:00 to 07:00 shift (the common 12x36) therefore has 9 clock hours of night work. The switch lets you leave the extension out.
In the country. Rural workers have no reduced hour and a 25% premium (Lei 5.889/1973). Night is 21:00 to 05:00 in crop farming and 20:00 to 04:00 in livestock.
The money. The normal hour is the salary divided by five times the weekly hours (220 for 44). The premium is that hour times the percentage times the night hours of the month. Night work done regularly also raises the pay of Sundays and holidays, the DSR, worked out like the DSR on overtime.
What is not here. Overtime at night earns both premiums; rotating shifts and collective agreements can change the rules; INSS and income tax apply to the month's pay.

Night hours are paid at the normal hour plus at least 20% in town. The normal hour is the salary divided by the schedule's divisor, 220 for 44 hours a week. On R$ 2.500,00 the premium is R$ 2,27 per night hour, so 8 night hours a shift for 22 shifts give R$ 400,00.
CLT article 73 counts each urban night hour as 52 minutes and 30 seconds instead of 60 minutes. A shift from 22:00 to 05:00 has 7 clock hours but pays 8 night hours, because 420 minutes divided by 52.5 is 8.
When a shift covers the whole period from 22:00 to 05:00 and continues, the extension follows the night rules under article 73, paragraph 5, as the labour courts apply it. A 12x36 shift from 19:00 to 07:00 then has 9 clock hours of night work, not 7.
Rural night work under Lei 5.889/1973 runs from 21:00 to 05:00 in crop farming and from 20:00 to 04:00 in livestock. The premium is at least 25% and there is no reduced hour, so 8 clock hours count as 8 night hours.
Night work done regularly is part of the salary, so it raises the paid weekly rest like habitual overtime. The calculator divides the month's premium by the working days and multiplies by the Sundays and holidays: R$ 400,00 over 25 days with 5 rest days adds R$ 80,00.
